The Las Vegas Sun has an interview with Takeru Kobayashi about competing in the Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Eating Contest on Friday. He incorrectly claims it will be his second contest in Las Vegas after recording shows for Spike TV in 2007; he also won the US Open of Competitive Eating tournament in 2005. On Joey Chestnut he says: "I don’t like him at all, I dislike him very much."

Well of course he really doesn’t like anyone that can give him a run for his money.

Yes, I agree. That’s a no brainer. Plus I do not think Joey likes Kobayashi either though if Koby hadn’t been burned by MLE, he might be more gracious. You have to admire both of their talents.

Check out Erik Lamkin’s video (https://youtu.be/qDF69cK0SQo?t=3m20s) where he drops a ton of meat at last year’s Gringo Bandito without any deductions. Not a fair contest. Spread the word and don’t let yourself get cheated.

LOL @3:01
Maybe you need to look a little closer and see how messy that contest actually was. Nice try though!

Erik, who else was as messy? I’ve seen Kobi and he wasn’t dropping tacos everywhere.

Erik, MLE deducted you 1.5lbs at the pie contest (https://youtu.be/-ha8b99bY6Y). I guess you couldn’t cheat your way through that one.
Do you truly believe that you ate a legit 81 tacos, 3 more than Jamie McDonald did the previous year? I’ve seen your videos. It took you more than 70 seconds to eat a chipotle burrito (https://youtu.be/KQhgLnrNBgY?t=15m5s). That’s nowhere near the same league as Jamie.

I’m not here to debate anyone. Were you there? Do you understand how the MLE operates? Ask anyone that I’ve eaten with during any one of these contests. I simply show up, and am there for the experience and to learn from the other eaters that are obviously more experienced than myself so that I can become a BETTER eater.
Toodles!

People who have little idea and have not been present (even if they have been) are quick to make accusations. Erik made an excellent statement. It is tiring to read about things which absolutely cannot be proven. Like in any sport, once the judges have ruled, the numbers are fixed. Hats off to Erik whose attitude should be adopted by more eaters.

Oh Erik, what is it that you’re implying about MLE? Even your youtube friends in the comments agreed the deductions were fair.
I hope the “experienced” eaters you’ve been learning from will watch the videos and chime in. I doubt they will be impressed by your integrity after seeing the contest videos.

Most that left MLE left on hostile terms. Even wonder why?

Yeah the two guys that ran the show never made it enticing /appealing or worth your while to hang around . Booker and Crazy Legs would certainly disagree

@12:39 The close-up videos I linked are proof enough. What more could you ask for? If you’re all for respecting the judges’ ruling, then I assume you also condone Erik Denmark pocketing a hot dog, since that wasn’t caught by the judges?
@1:16 From what I’ve seen, contract issues have caused eaters to leave MLE on hostile terms. I have yet to hear of anyone leaving MLE because they thought the contest judging was consistently unfair.
I understand there will be debris in contests. But it’s also easy to tell (especially when there are videos) that there is excessive waste from eaters who are trying to gain an unfair advantage. If this is condoned, then other eaters will have no choice but to follow suit, and the contest will become a farce. I’m pretty sure that if your total is close to Kobi’s at the Gringo Bandito, then the judging will be more scrutinized. But it appears that the rest of the field is poorly judged because they don’t “really” matter anyways.
