Lola Star, organizer of a July 4 Coney Island veggie dog contest, is also planning a veggie dog event held in conjunction with the opening Nathan's qualifier on the Coney Island boardwalk on March 23. Lola claims the counter-contest will be "more of a performance to make vegetarianism look sexy & appealing... And make their gluttonous contest look extra appalling in contrast"

Coney Island businesses are devasted due to Hurricane Sandy. So this lady decides to dis the top company on the Boardwalk during on one of the busiest days of the year for all of Coney’s business commuhnity. This “neighbor” of Nathan’s just wants to selfishly bring attention to herself and crap on an annual Brooklyn tradition. Everyone from the area should boycott having anything to do with Lola Star. Okay, go hold your “competition” for your cause de jure, just be a little neighborly and pick another day. If Lola has to put in any paperwork to hold a public event at the cost of city resources, that paperwork should mysteriously get misplaced until July 5. Nathan’s was there way before Lola moved in, if she has a problem with Nathan’s and their “appalling” hot dog contest go move somewhere else.

I totally agree with Not smartk I personally know someone that is into vegan/vegetarian crap and to be honest its getting on my nerves. Its almost like an entirely different breed of human.. They look upon carnivores as if they were beasts or people they have nothing in common with. . If it was all about eating healthy i could understand where this person is coming from but its more along the lines of cruelty to animals. I dont condone slaughter of animals but some are actually more concerned when an animal is put to death than the death of an actual human being.

This Lola Star lady reminds of someone who moves next door to an airport then starts complaining about aircraft noise. In the eyes of some Vegans, unless you’re one of them you need to be shunned from society. Completely, ignoring million of years of evolution that has brought us to being both meat and vegitation eating mammels. What’s this lady’s agenda? All I’m seeing is self promoter for her tourist based shop. It would serve Lola right for Nathan’s, one of the areas largest area employers, to move from Coney, shut down the boardwalk, and let’s see how her tee shirt shop does then. Hey, go be a Vegan, just don’t push your life style on those that choose not to limit their nutritional intake. And, don’t get me wrong, I completely support anyone’s right to speak. But, the First Amendment, also gives us a right to choose when not to speak up. Following Sandy, Coney needs Nathan’s and as a Coney resident now’s the time for Lola Star to support them.
