    Sonya did at least Marie Claire, and probably a bunch more magazines. Sudo won’t be the first, but 11:32 and the like will be talking about hers more than Sonya’s articles. Haters just can’t stop.

    No one can deny the history and contributions of Kobayashi and Sonya. They are both legendary. Miki seems to be following in their footsteps, and her history is only beginning. And a terrific one it is. Sonya would be the first to congratulate her and be friends on the circuit. She would still and always be a fierce competitor in every contest. In fact many eaters are friends on and off the circuit and even when some have left their organizations. This is real life and good life. Honestly, I fail to understand the many comments on here filled with sarcasm and hatred. What is it about this community that brings out the really bad side of human beings. Are there really that many of you who are so hateful and jealous in your world on the computer and outside of it? I would guess so. You must be really unhappy people. That is too bad because there are many of us who love competitive eating and have opinions and follow it with pleasure. We all make choices.

    Hank – Praising Miki does not relate to hating Sonya. You seem to be under the impression that any attention Miki gets is hurtful to Sonya. With that logic, all the enormous attention Sonya has received over the last ten years has been hurtful to other female eaters like Carlene and Juliet. Nobody stays on top forever and you seem to be having a very hard time adjusting to the fact that there are new female superstars like Miki, Michelle and Molly who are here for the long run. There will be others who will follow as well. That’s life!

    Now just a minute Locust. towards the end of the 2007 interview with you Carlene and El Toro on BB corner , you had your chance to slam Hank after Carlene praised him but instead you kept quiet .

    There was no reason to slam him then, Brian, because he was as nice to us as we were to him. It’s another story when he’ll say derragatory things about Miki just because she has overtaken Sonya. It seems hè’ll do anythìng he can to turn people against her while hiding behind anonymous names. I can’t respect someone who would do that to another person.

    Rich, you know what other people can’t stand? A cheat. Which is what you were at the Swellin With Melon contest in Brookville, Ohio a few years ago. The only reason your competitors didn’t bring it up is out of respect and the fact that you didn’t win anyway. Why don’t you address that instead of attacking someone based on who you think might have said something and why. My claim that you are a cheat is backed up by law enforcement. You are lucky you didn’t go straight to jail where you belonged. I see a pattern here.

    Have you ever had a conversation with the Locust? The pattern is always the same redundant bullcrap. Always bragging about his totals and who he beat and how he got screwed. The man has a memory like you would not believe . He remembers the exact totals of what he ate in what location at what time. Amazing Amazing. Lets not forget the pasta contest in Little Italy in Oct 2003 when a few unnamed eaters who supposedly were credited with more pasta eaten then Rich , told him “great job Rich” Rich fired back like a child while still eating a plate of pasta ” Oh well i should have been credited for 2nd place etc etc Thats not fair” . Talking about a grown man of shall we say 64 at the time bitching and complaining like a grade school child.

    Repeating this here along with the gyoza comment. The Locust and Carlene are icons in the sport of competitive eating, always were, always will be. They were great at competitive eating long before it became so popular and terrific at the of long duration contests. Those are now “challenges”, kind of. The idiotic comments, and really we know exactly who is writing them, at least one person is clear, are just that, idiotic and frankly horrid. But that seems to be what pickles like. Locust is amazing, pure and simple. AND he comes on here with clearly written and stated opinions and information as himself. Those comments about cheating and such are leveled at so many these days, just pure lies and jealousy and worse. One day it is Sonya, another someone else, now The Locust. For new readers, you have to sift through the lies and stupid comments to get to the real and excellent meat and vegetables. Hang in because there is lots to like.
