MEL Magazine has an interview with Miki Sudo, who retains the MLE turkey title due to the cancellation of the contest at Foxwoods Casino. She says she usually contemplates quitting competitive eating about four minutes into every contest.

    They all say that to throw you off. Charles Hardy was notorious for telling a few eaters discreetly before a contest he felt like shit or threw up blood and then went on to put up very good numbers

    I remember when someone formally ranked #50 would vowel to quit competitive eating but he was so determined to reach #49 first and go out on top.

    I remember when someone formally ranked #23 was rewarded with that ranking only because he gave George Shea stupendous hand jobs
