The Wall Street Journal has a blog entry about Jeff Motuzas, bullpen catcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who supplements his salary by performing eating challenges for money. He once received $3000 for drinking a gallon of milk in under 12 minutes. (via email)

Eating challenges, amongst other disgusting things. I actually found the description of the things he does disturbing (eating tobacco spit, allowing himself to be punched in the groin at will, burning himself, etc.)
I also didn’t realize bullpen catchers were not rostered players for MLB teams.

Kidding, right? Outgrossing any competitive eating and all for his own bucks. And he gets media attention in The WSJ?

Yeah it’s great he earns extra income and the like, but who let’s themselves get hid in the groin on a regular basis or voluntarily eats someone else’s vomit?? The article reminded me of episodes of Fear Factor, many of which were just gross.
