Not sure if Pete should have competed in this one. The mystique about him can go right down the toilet if he loses. Both have alot to lose . Kobe is the odds on to win so if by chance he loses , the grand high exhalted emperor will be reduced to a mere mortal . On the other hand if Pete loses some of that “fear of the unknown” will likely take a beating.

Pete has already lost to an eater who never ate even half as many dogs as Koby’s lowest total.

@6:11 What’s the point of being a competitive eater if you’re not going to compete?
@Realist Manchetti requested that Pete be placed to compete in a later heat, guess he couldn’t take the pressure eh. Pete dominated Manchicken in the Go Go Curry eating contest and Manchicken “won” the dumpling eating contest by stuffing one extra dumpling in his mouth, big deal.

Agree with Kant, Pete is right to compete; its finally his chance to go against a true legend. Even if he loses, its still good for his career to go against someone with so much prestige.

As the eater in question, I have to reiterate, a 10-12 minute contest is vastly different than a 2 minute one. Just as in track, people excel at different times, distances, foods. I’m best at a sprint, & at wings. I’m worst at burgers, hdb’s & boneless (white meat) chicken.
As the 5 time champ, there should be certain perks, I did suggest, that Pete go in an earlier heat. If he or Kobi compEAT this yr. I will not make the same suggestion. I would want to go in the last heat, w/ both of them, & Will.
My guess is neither will compEAT.
Today Pete has a punchers chance. Kobi isn’t that familiar w/the food, it’s near Pete’s home. In football terms, Kobi favored by 2 touchdowns

He has more than a punchers chance Joe. If the right people put together the right kind of show there would be more hype to this than meets the eye. NY , LA but certainly not Canada. Canada is not the epicenter of mass media and certainly not the home of real pizza as we know it. Pete might be throwing himself to the wolves but then again Pete vs Kobe 2010 is far more entertaining than Pete vs Kobe 2008 where it would be more like a lynching

Pete lost to the Gentleman and comes up with an excuse on why he lost. I can’t wait for the excuses he and his fans comes up when he loses to Kobi.

Looking forward to the future, Kobayashi said he would like to compete in many countries and possibly establish a new league where “competitive eaters all around the world” can compete with “more freedom.”
Taken from CTV Toronto article.
BTW let’s stop guessing already, let’s watch :).

Pete did not come up w/any excuses. That’s other people.
He was a good sport, even in defeat. Which is what shows true character.

I like the way MLE ignores the entire show. You can eat 100 hot dogs but if you don’t live by the contract it’s like you never existed to them .

I guess after today the mystery is over. If Pete competed in Nathans finals he would put up less than Eater X figures in hotdogs. Joey would crush him like a stewed tomato
