    I love French Quarter Festival – done it 3 years now. . .but I think I’m going to have to skip it this time. Crawfish is just a horrible contest food (delicious but impossible to judge fairly). I hope there is Oysters again this year, I’ll definitely make it out to New Orleans for that! New Orleans = best food anywhere in USA.

    Well Rhonda, he made his float and entourage which was terrific, and he did a great job with his eating. I applauded him for his stance and his conviction and still do. Actions have consequences so while yes, it would have been nice to see how he matched up against Sonya, he and Sonya have made their choices. Sonya has no fear, has never been intimidated by anyone. She shows up, she gives it her 110%, her numbers speak for themselves. Oh…..and she never makes nasty, foolish comments here or elsewhere in print or in person.

    What I like best about Sonya is quite simple. She has never announced that she was retiring from com. eating and then unretire, which seems to be in vogue these days.

    Tips for shelling the crawfish? Well if you want to win, you have to eat the shells. I couldn’t bring myself to do that, so had no chance of placing in the money. But that’s the “technique” to win.

    I believe he’s serious. In any contest where the entire items are weighed, you technically would get credit for anything you’ve eaten.

    Rather than separate meat from shells, KR is saying… eat the whole thing. But shells must be hell to swallow, and rather brutal on the digestive tract.

    Well I would imagine they are tougher than shrimp shells but I can eat those. I have to go and get some mudbugs and try it out.

    Didn’t US male say he drank the gross water in the pans as well? if the water is weighed pre contest makes sense to me. Then again that contest has been screwy almost everytime, so it’s a crap shoot really.

    i never knew how the crawfish worked, i thought there might be a strategy that included eating the shells. or at least the tail shells and suck as much head as possible without getting the mouth too bogged down in shells. do it like US male, drink the juice!

    I prefer to think of it as sucking on the skull and eating the brians. Well it should be an interesting day either way with hand grenades.
