No Love for Kevin Ross? He at least made the Final table once.
With that said, I wanna see Dahl compete against multiple eaters around his level just to see where he places and to see what his real HDB number would be in a even comparable to Nathan’s.
Depending on how many seats are open here’s my list in order
1) Dahl
2) Rich L. (Just to see him further get best of both worlds of MLE and Indy)
3) Randy Santel
4) Pat Moonachi (cuz he’s funny and local)
5) Bob Kuhns
6) Squibb
7) Brunelli (just to see what his legit HDB numebr is… that Ocean City contest seems like the numbers were inflated. Dale ate 31? Dale’s not that good… That and might be cool to see somebody reverse and Brunelli’s the man for that)
I didn’t even know Mango still competed… The rest we’ve either seen what they can do or (with all due respect) just aren’t interesting enough as eaters

My respect for Pete just grew ten fold. The people of Brooklyn should give him a big cheer. At least one foreigner knows that you should respect another nation’s traditions. OJ, could you list as a poll entry a cardboard cutout of some generic person eating? Because that’s all this new “eater” would be. Just a backdrop to feed Kobi’s fragile ego, and another ploy by Kobi to gain credibility to this sham for reporters that according to Kobi is in no way meant to compete with Nathan’s. Yeah, and Kobi’s also has a bridge to sell you, it’s called the Brooklyn Bridge. Heck, Crap Dog and Rosario’s haven’t even listed the prizes. Not that it matters, the only person who would be eating for money is Kobi. The rest would be eating to kiss Kobi’s butt, so how much is their self respect worth anyway? Any eater should be ashamed to attend a hotdog eating contest on the Fourth of July in Brooklyn unless they earned their way to Nathan’s in Coney.

I have to agree with Dodger, I’m sure Furious Pete was offered a spot w/ apperance fee to the contest and it seems he turned it down. This just shows he’s a man with his head on straight and can sense when something smells fishy. I really hope this contest falls very short of its goals for two reasons. One because I feel everyone outside-looking-in into the competitive eating world sees this large bipolarship between the image Kobi has and the MLE. This makes competitive eating look like a wishy-washy collaberation, just like football was looking earlier this year. Reason 2 is just purily out of resentment from the origins of this contest. It’s obvious Kobi is trying to 1-up every single thing the MLE does (Turkey world record and Turkey, Smaller tacos after MLE’s Taco Bell, fake rooftop HDB world record), and for that nature i feel it should be shut down. Reminds me of Charlie Sheen to be quite frank

While I’ll stand by my opinion that Kobi should have chosen another day to do this, Memeorial day is great day for a Hot Dog contest. He does look incredibly bitter with his act last year on the rooftop and this contest this year on the same day and time as Nathan’s. For that, I agree, I hope this event doesn’t take off. But if you put that aspect aside and don’t view this event in terms of “Koby and his revenge against MLE” (although it does seem that way) but view it more as an opurtunity for other eaters to have a chance to compete and get some free travel or appearance fee’s to display their talents then, really what’s wrong with that?
While this event won’t come close to Nathan’s I’m still interested in seeing the results and that’s me speaking as a CE fan, not an MLE eater.

The U.S. Archery Association (USAA) announced today that it will be holding its national archery championship on the second Sunday in January in Kyoto, Japan.
“Just because this just happens to be on the same day and in same the town as Kyoto’s 400-year-old archery competition, we see no similarities,” said USAA Director Walter Beeks. “We just though it would be fun to hold another contest. So what if our competiton is being held in the same place and time as Japan’s national archery competition, it’s so funny that you thought there was any relation? We’re going to have live rock bands! Their competiton doesn’t have live rock bands.”
At this time no U.S. archers have signed up for the U.S. event in Japan. No prize money has been announced at this time for the event. Organizers of Kyoto’s Toshiya Festival who put on the Kyoto event festival were ill and could not be reached for comment.

as all of you seem to have forgotten so comfortably; without Kobayashi, there never would have been international press nor ESPN, etc. etc. etc. – the shabby little contest it was when he arrived became something monstrous because of this kid.
now that he has left that contest and has been proposed a new thing and is taking it- you act like he’s doing something in revenge.
obviously none of you actually “feel” anything. you just talk a bunch of jealous crap. he has not stated one thing in revenge to that godforsaken contest. he has been offered something he took. anyone in his position would have. not to mention, he is actually making chances and opportunities bigger in the field of competitive eating by doing this. without someone doing something that has a chance to be as big as Nathan’s, it all stays just where it is- in complete control by their organization. I think you guys just want it to stay safe and small. unless Kobi is the person to move, who else has a chance to get sponsors to possibly even make something as large as Coney Island’s contest?? Noone. that is the answer. . so of course there will be eaters very happy that Kobi is making this decision.
..and for him to prove he was still the champ last year only made sense after being thrown in jail for NOTHING; when in fact they wouldn’t let him compete just for not signing some death will to sign over all his rights. at least he was going to prove who he still was. people, stop being small minded and try to see past your dull brick walled, brain washed ideas. you act as if he’s a demon for taking the best possible choices. what is none of that even happened? would you guys still be bitching about him leaving that contest and starting a new one by himself? yep, probably.
and how in hell do we know what the prizes are going to be or what the other competitor have been offered? they haven’t even stated that yet. Pete isn’t cool for not being a part of this.. he’s already been in many contests with Kobi- he obviously had other reasons.. it’s funny how noone on here has spoken to anyone directly or waits for facts.. ya’ll just talk and talk and talk about people so negatively. Kobi hasn’t said one negative thing from what I’ve read and seen. Not to mention, it really seems like everyone who meets him likes him. give me a break; someone getting as much publicity as he is right now- obviously has something “good” in him.

Fredrick Rotanya has written some truths but goes a bit overboard. Yes, there is a lot of hot air in general, but he is overstating the case way too much. The Nathans contest was building steam before Kobayashi came along and would likely have had ESPN with or without him. In fact, without Joey and Bertoletti and others, Kobayashi would have made Nathans boring by always winning, just as with Joey not being in a close fight, it is boring. MLE always has to look for ways to change the event, adding the women’s division last year was very smart. Kobayashi has to look for opportunities as well, he has cut all ties with MLE. But he got really stubborn and confused about his contract and wanted something no one person, even a Kobayashi should expect. I am guessing that he is going to get lots of bucks for Crif, trying to promote those hotdogs. Can they really compete with Nathans hotdogs? Do they have anywhere near the financial capital that Nathans (not MLE) has? Time will tell. Right now Kobayashi needs lots of other eaters for “his” Crif contest. Otherwise, he would just be doing another (pointless) rooftop demonstration on the 4th.
