Number of IFOCE contests: 2003-2007

2003 33
2004 78
2005 119
2006 87
2007 69

The table above gives the total number of IFOCE contests in the eatfeats database for the years 2003-2007. (Click on the number to see the list) Every matchup in the US Open of Competitive Eating or the title rallies counts as a contest, which contributes to 2005 having the most contests. I am going to try to get the database to count the total number of IFOCE events each year, defining event as a date and site that had one or more contests.

Shouldn’t you just count each round of the US Open as one event?

Yeah, (anonymous is right) if you take that out, there’s about a 40 contest differential in 2005. I know 2006 was the year that we had the most contests, and Goldenpalace.net had a huge factor in that, there would have been even more if President Bush didn’t block out the online casinos. Goldenpalace.net would still be running the show with their theme “The World Series of Competitive Eating.” It was a brilliant run. Hopefully another sponsor can mask or eclipse that run, but nothing has come close. 2007 even had differentials due to the spike tv rounds, regardless, 2003 and 2007 were the years with the least amount of contests i think. I hope the trend for less contests does not continue. –but thanks for the listings OJ.
