Philly vs. IFOCE 4 on 4 in Wing Bowl 18?

Dan Gross’ column on philly.com mentions George Shea’s appearance on 610 WIP last week and says that the proposed contest in which 4 IFOCE members would face off against 4 Philly-area eaters would take place in Wing Bowl 18 next year if it occurs.

    That doesn’t seem like a very good argument, since the given reason for excluding IFOCE participants from WB XVII was because of their total domination … unless … previous IFOCE WB nonlocal participants are prohibited from representing the IFOCE. Then Humble Bob, Steakbellie, Wing Kong, and US Male can represent the IFOCE. That could be a win-win situation, ensuring WIP that the winner would still be local.

    And if El Wingador came out of retirement again, that would put an additional spin on things. However, that would be like making a Rocky VIII movie—-old!

    Sorry, Joey, Pat, and Sonya, but Wing Bowl is probably not in the cards for either of you next year, except for Sonya perhaps, since she’s the one people love to hate. Or maybe they’ll nix Sonya in favor of Juliet. At least then boisterous fans could still get their jollies pelting a wee woman with cans of beer and tampons. What a combination …..
