16th out of 200 some odd entrants . Suckered into shoving last 27k 24suited post flop hitting a deuce and four on flop. Two others called the shove and Seiken knew it was curtains Opponent showed a pair of 10’s hit 10 on the flop Cashed for only $598 but it was a great run. They even give you a $10 dinner voucher for the food court Look out more money to be made down the line Oink oink

851 makes a strong point . You need to excell in diversity to distinguish yourself from others. A guy like Seiken probably started playing poker to make the Gabriel Kaplan transition from tv comedy to poker. Seiken on the other hand was doing the same being a comp eater pickle while at same time making the same transition. Subich made the transition from eating to politics. US Male made the transition to marathons. Unfortunate that some others remain stagnant and just eat in competition because they don’t know anything else

The most impressive stat from Seiken 16th place finish yesterday was not the money or the finish but the fact that he busted Sirous Jamshidi who finished 3rd in the WPT 2 million dollar event a few days prior

it would make no sense for Seiken to compete at a poker table against Dave Goldstein because if Seiken busts him Goldstein will use the excuse that poker is a game of luck and he got lucky. He will say that Seiken wouldnt be able to have same luck at a competitive eating table because its all skill. With that said pointless Seiken will be playing the final leg of the WPT tour on Sept 25 at Borgata 100k guaranteed and 50 k in chips

Which current or former competitive eaters play poker? Is it a good stream of income if you know what you’re doing, or does the house always win?

Are there any other forms of gambling where you can have the advantage and not the house? Blackjack? Dice controllers on craps?

All that work for $248 profit in a very small field. Good job but now let’s see what you can do with higher stakes in a bigger more experienced field.

1103 give the guy a break ok? Hes only been playing a year and now you want him to dive right in with the real pros $580 to $1500 buy ins? Like throwing an amateur in the ring with Tyson in his prime. Give it some time man and eventually the job will get done. Already he progressed from $1 tournaments to $70 dailys to $350. He drew dead during the first few levels was down to 8k but turned that into 150 k by level 8. He also picked his spots afterwards and layed down some big hands which shows some level of skill where as some inexperienced maniacs with a deep stack would have busted a short time after

You can never become one of the greats if you base your play on hoping for a min cash. Focus on building a monster stack and go for the win and win only. Don’t focus on hoping you just make the money bubble That separates the men from the boys

  17. anonymous said

    September 15, 2015 @ 7:45 am

All that work for $248? Thats a very ignorant statement . Tournaments are not always about the money. Level of skill you pick up playing a number of hours is priceless. Hey there are some that play for hours and bust with $0 profit to show for it. How about all that work? If you break it down he made $70 an hr $350 buy in plus the $248 profit 10am to 6pm with a 1hr lunch break and a $15 food credit. Great if you sucks if you lose

Poker is probably one of the few forms of table game play where the house does not have the favor. Any game where money is pooled together in determine winner or winners is fair and legit. You don’t necessarily have to play poker tournaments . You can play cash games and make your money quicker or lose it fast . There are $1 $2 poker cash games all the way up to $100 $200 or even higher for the extreme high rollers. Black jack and dice are losing battles House is always a 2-1 fav no matter what. Yeah you can go on these massive winning streaks playing BJ or dice but in the long run they get you and then some

You have to put money in pot to make money . Unfortunate that MLE doesn’t live by that motto which is why their prize structure only pays out 5 places at max and geared towards elite eaters cashing in those spots where the rest get shit

  22. anonymous said

    September 15, 2015 @ 10:19 am

11:03 i am assuming that you play some form of tourn poker which might explain why $248 could have been pumped up to maybe 3k if a rookie mistake wasnt made. At the late stages of a tournaments the blinds and antes go up considerably. Mr Seiken was down to less than 10 BB with blinds at 2thous 4 thous. He was the BB limped in for the 4 and got to see a cheap flop because noone raised His hand was 42 and the flop was 10 2 4. One of two players elected to raise Seiken shoved his remaining 27k thinking his small 2 pair was good. Mr Honig who finished 3rd (look it up) elected to call the shove . His stack was drawing dead as well. Honig had pocket 10’s not sure what the tun and river was but it was irrelevant. It was a rookie mistake on Seiken part with poor kickers but sometimes dumb moves pay off This time it didn’t. If Seiken busted Honig he might have moved up a lot higher than 16th place

  24. anonymous said

Wrong on both. He does not live in roach infested slum and he invested after they became hot so profit is minimal at this stage. However look at Berkshire Hathaway you never know

Rumor has it that Smelkin secretly competed in a 2 minute wing contest at a local pub came in 2nd to some young up and coming star. The rest of the field was a joke. Seiken approached the young man before the event and asked him ” Do you realize you are going up against a legend ? A former pickle champ who has competed in front of arena crowds in wing events with major league competition as opposed to showing off for your bar buddies? ” The brash kid responded “So what ?

Three NBA big men , one a legend has passed away over the course of the last 6 months all due to cardio vascular disease. Proves one thing . Modern medicine is a joke after all these years of research and fools like us donating money to conquer these terminal diseases by walkathons and marathons. Simply pointless

Good thing Seiken played in a Seniors poker event. Most are partially blind, deaf and lack smelling ability. It’s like having a hideous Sesame Street character at the table.

My thought is why does Mr Shortstein have this weird fetish with odors especially odors of the male gender. I distinctly remember him mention something about being embrace by badlands wearing some kind of oil scent and being turned off by it. I never smell any oil on booker . Only in his sick perv mind that others stink. Maybe you should start sniffing your own stinky ass because trust me it stinks just as bad as your breath

If i knew the poker event would go on for 20 hrs i would never bother to register . Even though they pay out 36 places which pays under $1000 after the first 11 spots. 7 or 8 hrs is my limit . I played for 9 hrs in the seniors but at least i was in the money. These people that play 3 to 4 day events with buy in of $1500 to $3500 are either backed , have loads of cash to burn or have no life Continue on with your childish comments about odors obesity and other childish nonsense . That’s about all you have going for you anyway
