Similarities between Japanese competitive eating book covers

The covers of the Japanese translations of Horsemen of the Esophagus and Eat This Book are similar, but not as alike as the US versions:

    Interesting how they used images of American eaters on the covers. The illustrated one is especially unflattering. Considering how popular CE is in Japan, I wonder why they didn’t use a picture of a Japanese eater? Royalty fees? An obsession with Western culture?

    Or, um, maybe because the books are mostly about the American competitive eating scene.

    You’ll find that many Asians, in general, embrace many aspects of American / western culture. This is especially true of the Japanese.
