A 19 year old man in Virginia was hospitalized after drinking a bottle of soy sauce. He reportedly had the highest level of sodium intoxication that did not result in permanent damage.

I wish stuff like this wouldn’t be thrown into the general category of CE.

A real moron by any standards. Since he hasn’t reached male maturity as of yet, shouldnt mom and dad be keeping an eye out for their son. ? Even LA Beast isnt stupid enough to do something like that

The real moron is 2:36 am, we know exactly who you are which is really a shame because you constantly insult others through the back door and eatfeats too. But that is your choice. LA Beast is a success, you are jealous. About the topic, read the article before writing your hate. It is not the least bit surprising that a 17 year old would take on this challenge, or anyone. It would be easy to drink soy sauce. In this case the article has value beyond the content. It can serve as a warning to others. It belongs here on eatfeats which is a mixture of just what it says……eatfeats.

9:39, you’re not a moron, but come on…the headline was staring you in the face as you typed your comment, and yet you still got it wrong: the man was 19 not 17!

Well, let’s start with APE and their collegiate eating league. Promoting a bunch of drunk college kids to eat excessively with no medical assistance nearby. Next, independent eaters who think they’re Joey Chestnut eating at home on the computer. A close second, media and computer eating shows that take no precautions and encourage dangerous challenges. Fourth, restaurants that have excessive eating challenges with no AMTs. Ultimately, there’s the Wing Bowl in Philly, tieing the most debaucherous behavior with competitive eating. Someday, and you can bank on it, their will be a disaster following the Wing Bowl, either from a drunk in the audience or from one of their so called contestants and Angelo will separate him so fast from the event it will make your head spin. At MLE, you can’t even do an eating demonstration on tv without an AMT nearby, and they’re constantly stressing that in interviews and on their website. They’ve called eaters who do demos on the web.

@10:25 kind of like mle’s FULL support of their #4 guy Stonie’s birthday cake eat “record” that is still on youtube? There were tons of medical staff there and it was definitely supervised by mle, right??? Get your head out of the clouds! That single mle “sponsored” event that was done in Stonie’s own backyard with only him and his brother had absolutely no medical help yet mle fully endorsed it and has it up on their website plus Stonie is wearing an mle shirt and mle has their name all over the video. That goes against everything mle says about safety and everything you just posted. Now “who’s to blame”? Have a good day.

I think most competitive eaters have eaten many things that should be a “lethal dose of sodium”. But I think the problem with this guy is not guzzling lots of water after. I’m not sure how his body was screaming at him not to chug liquids with that much salt. Every time I competitive eat salty food, all I want to do is hydrate. Or how his body didn’t make him puke. I actually had a friend when I was much younger chug a bottle of soy sauce on a dare. He puked before he was finished with it.

AMT… not EMT… I’m a former MLE eater and I’ve been to plenty of events where an EMT wasn’t present.

The comment from 939 just proves one thing . You cannot take CE or this site serious at all
