Were you expecting more to say no, Craig? I honestly thought there would be more no’s. If they were to show more CE on TV, they’d have to change up the format beyond the traditional Coney or Krystal format. Make it interesting. Maybe do team competitions where eaters compete as duos or teams of four or five, tackling a variety of different foods.
Or allow eaters/teams to use certain things during a contest to disrupt the other team/eaters. Like everyone is eating at their own little round table and at some point during the contest, the tables drop down to floor level and the eaters have to get down on their knees to eat. Or put the eaters in a circle at a big roundtable and allow them to throw food at each other, with the penalty that they lose one food item off their total for every food item they throw.

Actually, I just checked that survey. 42 percent said no and 34 percent said “get rid of all competitive eating”. I’m guessing that 34 percent would vote “no”, so it’s more like 76 percent “no.” That’s about what I thought it would be, which is why they WON’T air more CE.
