A press release announces that Takeru Kobayashi will attempt to set a record for eating turkey at Turtle Bay in New York City on Wednesday. The event will be broadcast on Kobayashi's ustream channel.

    This seems a bit strange. Not sure of the point, is he getting sponsored for this? He has name recognition regardless of being in MLE or not. Perhaps it is just to remind people that he is “available”?

    I like Koby a bunch, but unless his performance is overseen by a recognized governing body of CE, his achievement is little more than personal.

    I think the man is bored and/or lonely, which I understand.

    How can this be a record. It not with a League who sets standards. This is something he sets up himself to he standards to make it easy on himself. In other words a FIX CONTEST. When he did a real contest on Labor day in which he also had a great deal of say so. In the way the hot dogs were prepare to his liking and fav for him to win. But when he did a real contest outside of the fake world of the Sheas ( Mle/ IFOCE )
    He did only 49. So they say. It was funny how slow he ate in real life. And now he thinks he can just set back and make money of his name.
    What a joke. He will find out he will have to work hard to get and kept his name out there. As Pete and Dale Boone have done. His name has gone from Takeru Kobayashi . to Kobayashi . to the guy from japan. to the guy from Asia . to the skinny dude to I thought his name was Joey.
    As for Pete they name about his movie. As for Dale Boone. He is known World wide. Why Pete and Dale are better known in the world is they both work hard and not sitting on the asses thinking because they won a fix contest a few times. That it’s own to them.

    It’s kind of sad for Kobi. Eating contests against the indies haven’t panned. There’s just no one at his level on the indie scene and the contests are a joke. Now that no one’s paying him to do those lopsided indie contests, his only option is to do self mastication eating demonstrations against himself on his website. I guess his hope is to let MLE and Wild Turkey set up the press and he might be able to take sloppy seconds from the media the next day.
