Angelo Cataldi answers some questions about Wing Bowl 16 in his blog. There will be 6 Wing Off qualifiers, with the first being held on Dec. 12 at P.J. Whelihan’s in Cherry Hill, N.J. Cataldi reports that negotiations between WIP and the IFOCE to allow Joey Chestnut to defend his title are still in progress. but they expect to reach an agreement.

    I’ve never understood why anyone eats wings — for pleasure or for competition. The stupid bones get in the way of the enjoyment, and there is too little meat “harvested,” considering the work involved. I never touch ’em.

    They should send five different people to wing bowl who have never been before. El Wingador is going to win again anyway. Nobody beats him. It was stolen from him in 2004 and thats all there is to it.

    I agree that they should send 5 different eaters but that will NEVER happen

    I hope you do win Dave but I think the odds are stacked agains you and for wingador. He will kill joey in this script and it is made up to allow phiily to prove it has an eater who can be the one who is supposedly ranked 1 in the world after destroying kobyashi. Even if koby showed up this year with a healed jaw he would not be allowed to win because he is a foreign invader and this year is like Rocky II for wingador. It will be an embarrassment for any ranked ifoce eaters who show up. They will all get killed.

    it will be like rocky VI for el wingador… He will go the distance, but nobody will believe that bill can mounted a successful comeback against the best competitive eating in the world.

    US Male, it’s nice that you’re excited about Wing Bowl. You did very well last year. But don’t be too surprised this year if you feel you got the short end of the stick. Angelo and Al really run the show. The judging is always corrupt. A lot of guys showed up last year feeling good because they had success in the past, and then left feeling cheated because they had been. You will have dodged a bullet twice if they don’t cheat you this year. Just be ready for it in case it happens.

    I can only do my best. If I feel cheated in the end then fuck it, I won’t compete in it anymore. At least I will get to enjoy watching the girls and the afterparty.

    US Male, I actually CAN envision that you, as a local eater, could win the thing. A Wingador victory would be the most likely scenario, however. Nevertheless, I have been wrong way more than I have been right, so what do I know anyway?

    And, yes, I am back on eatfeats, just less verbose.

    The WIngs in Buffalo sucked and I spent to much time trying to clean them as it is done in Wing Bowl. Perhaps you could be a man “Be Real” and use your real name or step up to the plate and compete.

    Now USMALE, don’t exaggerate, only SOME of the wings in Buffalo sucked. Some trays were great, some were dry and harder than hell to eat. If you gotten lucky, which you didn’t, and gotten a good tray for your first and even luckier and gotten a good tray#2, you would have literally doubled your numbers. The numbers from that competition are deceiving.

    much like wingador, until they take thier show on the road, everyone will believe that the wing bowl’s wing totals are a farce.

    US Male you have 4 IFOCE contests under your belt finishing 12th 8th 5th and 6th. Where do you come off bragging about one gift you got at wingbowl. When you put away 25 or more hot dogs and 40 or more krystals then you can start talking. Until then we know very little about you

    See now thats what i mean because USMale killed sonya at wing bowl last year and in Buffalo but his wings were not counted because extra credit was given to a female as there is no way she should beat him or any other man and Male you know I amn right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Although you are a total idiot “Be Real” you are sort of right. I have done nothing yet and need to prove myself. Wings are my specialty and I look to expand into the hot dogs and other events and become much better. Even Pat & Joey started somewhere and got better over time. This will be my rookie year and there is alot of room to improve. You shouldn’t be such a hater, especially since we don’t know who you are and probably cannot compete if your life depended on it.

    Where you are wrong is the Wing Bowl totals. I earned my spot in that event. I practiced hard and was ‘hungry’ to do well. I tore through those wings without any help from judges. To prove it, I will do it again and eat even more this time. Believe what you want. The judges in wingbowl are not out to screw anybody or make any one person look good.

    US Male has done a fine job here of getting a lot of attention without really doing much…good luck in the Wing Bowl, enjoy it, win, lose, or gyp!
