Wing Bowl 17 stunts underway

The 610 WIP Wing Bowl 17 page has added links to photos and videos of the qualifying stunts. ClarkieGirl73 has a blog entry about her friend Larry Norris’ successful stunt this morning in which he ate 5 pounds of bacon in 8 minutes and 30 seconds. The Philly.com Wing Bowl page has not been updated with any information about qualification attempts for the upcoming Wing Bowl.

The Wing Bowl 17 logo, which looks like the Phillies logo, has been also been added to the 610WIP page.

Angelo and WIP are absolute morons. This will be the most boring Wing Bowl consisting of lame duck slobs who suck. From what I hear, the stunts they are accepting are much to easy.

1 pound of ravioli in 3 minutes?!? I agree with anon 3:58 – the stunts suck!

The prices of the tickets this year are going up to $7.50. Although the proceeds are going to a worthwhile charity, Wing Bowl fans do not like paying for this event.

Higher ticket prices + lower level eaters = ??? (any guesses)

The girls better be the best batch yet

And where is the video of the guy who ate five pounds of bacon? Was it five pounds cooked (impressive but unbelievable, since he had to start with about 20 pounds of uncooked bacon to get that much) or five pounds before it was cooked, which only yields about 20 ounces of cooked bacon (not impressive at all)?

Well I think its switches things up and makes it a little more interesting than us Philadelphians handing a car over to 1 of 5 people who do this as a living and win eating contests probably more than 5 times out of the year. Whats the matter with having a little hometown pride?? I love the idea of crowning one of our own as the top winner of one of our own eating contests and maybe next year giving one of the professionals a run for the money instead of handing over the keys..

My point all along anony 11:58 . If you were running this event would you mind handing over a 20k automobile to the same person three years in a row. It’s like a bookie that has to payout to the same winner over and over again. Cant stay in business that way

anonymous @ 11:58, that is a very true statement and I assume you must be one of the local eaters BUT I’ll bet that many of the fans who have attended over the past 4-5 years enjoy the higher numbers and may not like the changes. Aren’t there some local pros who don’t put up Chestnut like numbers and could make it a more competitive event?

So, make it a virgin wing bowl again, eliminating anyone who has ever competed in the event. Since it appears IFOCE will not be involved this year, they could open it to AICE and IFOCE members that have not competed in the event in the past. There would still be a large number of new local eaters involved.
