Who’s doing SF? They need some serious competition if they want to break Jake the fake’s record of 6 hot dogs and buns in 12 min

Sounds like it was an exciting contest. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nate and Kevin to do their overtime totals in 10 minutes on the 4th/next qualifier.

if it was 12mins there’d be no overtime…or would there ….have been?

They tied, I think they should both be going on to the finals. Or is there going to be some new scribbles on a napkin that says in 1910 there was a two minute eatoff?

Its not the 1st eat off in a Coney qualifier.

Boyd Bulot & Ray Meduna had an eat of in Los Angeles.

In fact it was so close that, Rich Shea made it so that the winner was the 1st to swallow.

I only know because I was there.

    Boyd won.

They never liked Meduna even though they say they love him. It wasn’t the first time Ray got screwed. They pulled the same move in Seattle when he lost to crazy legs

Wow, gi joe lost to both boyd and the bison? I hardly believe that for one second. Few can beat the gentleman in any type of competition, it said so on speedeat.com But lets not forget how he beat bob shoudt 8 years ago, so technically g joe would be ranked in the top 5 right now for sure.

    anony 11pm,

I didn’t lose to Boyd or Bison.

That contest was a day or two after Boyd & I filmed Ripley’s.

I was there as a “guest judge”. & I disagreed with Rich’s decision(s) There was an outright winner because one of them ate more dogs, but less buns than the other. I’m sorry I don’t remember which at this point. Also the swallowing thing was b.s., I think Rich was in a rush to get to the airport or something.

    I had already qualified.

I don’t claim I can beat any of the “stomach stretchers”, “food drinkers” nor people who eat 1/2 of the food they are supposed, etc.

That said, it is fact that i have faced Hbob & have never lost to him.

I don’t think I’ve ever said I belonged in the overall top 5.

Even when I was ranked #6 in the ifoce, long, long, ago, I thought I deserved #7.

But the main reason I came back to this thread is because I forgot that I lost to Cookie in a Coney qualifier in Boston, so there’s another one.

Joe im surprised that a man of your intelligence didn;t realize that anony 11pm is fuckin with your head laying on the sarcasm. The only reason you were ranked #6 was because the IFOCE had little if anything besides booker, jarvis, hardy oleg and a few others. You had your chance for nearly 2yrs to knock off the above names and you never came through. If you want to call a third place finish in chinook winds along with a conch fritter title over a shot Ed Krachie impressive, then so be it . You did beat Larue for corn title so i’ll give you that one . You started getting alot better in 2004 but you left the IFOCE towards the end of 2003 and 2004 would have been the year you could have proved yourself in that organizaton but you chose to move on. Very thoughtful of you admitting not being better than the stomach stretchers or food drinkers as you call them, but i think we know that already. You beat Humble Bob back in the day when he could only muster 13 hot dogs and buns. Is that something you want to brag about? Try going up against him now and see if you will come up with the same results.

Nate is a top contender for rookie of the year, and Kevin Ross deserves to be ranked higher – check his lifetime totals – he is the Rodney Dangerfield of Competitive Eating.

Hey all. I just got back from Texas. I’ve been kicking myself all weekend that I didn’t do a final stuff at the end. I was like a dog or two ahead most of the competition, then I started slowing down and I got worried that if I did a big stuff I might gag myself and lose my cookies. I thought I had enough padding, so basically just finished the dog I was eating, but Nate did a really nice stuff at the end and tied me. I’m really, really dumb for not shoving in even half an extra dog at the end. I guess all the nitrates clouded my judgment. I REALLY didn’t want to do the eat off and I knew once that happened that Nate had it, but I gave it my best anyway. Good job Nate!

On the brightside, I should be happy that I ate 23 hot dogs in 12 minutes, whereas last year I only did 14. I’m pretty sure that I can hit this amount or more in 10 minutes, now that I know I can do it. Hopefully in a few days I’ll feel motivated enough to do the San Fran qualifier and this time not let it slip through my fingers!

I lost fair and square to Boyd and Legs.I know how Kevin feels right now.You put all your Heart and Soul into regulation and Overtime and you feel like a Mack truck hit you when you come up short.

Double O has Table Drive I have seen it and hopefully you will do San fran with 25 + and a seat at Coney.

Screw anon at 6:06. Do the show. Why would you run and hide at the mention of Chip being there? That’s why he’s anonymous, and you’re posting under your real name. It’s called Pride. If anyone doesn’t understand that, it says volumes about them. Your improvement since last year is tremendous. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Mike and US male. For the record, that wasn’t a reversal. I saw after OT that Nate had me whether I choked down what I stuffed in there or not, so I figured why not just spit it out. But yeah, I’m sure to the audience it might have looked like vomit or something. But I definitely held them down. I guess if Chip does show in SF I won’t have a realistic shot. But in the end, it is my fault for not chipmunking as the clock ran down. I can’t blame anyone but myself. I’ll get over it eventually!

Never mind Chip Simpson, the real threat in San Fran is Kobayashi!! Has anyone noticed he hasn’t qualified yet?? Not a word anywhere about him winning a Japanese qualifier. It’s pretty obvious he’d do the qualifier closest to the 4th, so that he wouldn’t have to travel to the US twice. Koby will be there and will eat 60! Take that to the bank.

If an anonymous poster said you’d be there, you’ll be there. No one with that little backbone would lie on a public forum. Good luck at whatever qualifier you do decide to do.

As for “words of wisdom said”, you will never understand the rest of us if you truly feel that way. Its actually pathetic that you lead that miserable of an existence. Get help, and get it soon

  37. Chip's unauthorized voice said

I have another plan, and I plan to not tell anyone about it, so keep this just between you and me. My eating career has reached a plateau, I have been to the mountaintop, and I found that the top of the mountain has now been heightened. I liked climbing for awhile, but I feel like a constantly moving mountain is one heck of a challenge.
Real life is also a challenge, and attending to real life with it’s constant moving mountains of debt, mortgages, bills, and other stuff makes having time to mount eating mountains more like molehills that may not need as much attention as money-related mountains. With that said, I am staying focused and hungry and attending to my money mountains, before I attend any mouthful-related mountain climbing.

This is Chris, the “new guy” who finished in 4th place with 15 HDBs. The blog entry and the youtube clip that are linked at the top of this page were posted by friends of mine. Anyway, I wanted to say congratulations to Nasty Nate. Your last second finish was impressive, and you took care of business in overtime – well done. Good luck at Coney – I want to see you hitting your personal best on the big stage.
