Sonya I knew that you would make the right decision. Everybody makes mistakes, but it takes a big person to fully admit his or her mistakes. But you did! No one is perfect. Many people would have been at a loss if you stopped eating and touring. Thanks for thinking of your fans (like me)!

Sonya’s apology letter was the perfect thing to do. A very classy move and shows that she is the true sportsman/competitor we all know she is. It was directed at the fans and Humble Bob and was direct and on point she spared us all vague generalities and did the proper thing.

Now go start kicking ass Sonya I’ll be pulling for you.

Even when Sonya doesnt finish first, I think she is the most powerful force at the table. Every Eater gauges themselves to her performance, and no spectator forgets what they see. All eyes are on Sonya, and I’m sure that has created alot of pressure for her over the years.

I was sad for Bob how Meatballs played out, but I thought it was something between them personally that had to be hashed out and not really any of my business. Sonya continues to show that she’s a class act, and can have the humility and bravery to give such a public apology. Sonya, I hope you know how important you are to Competitive Eating.

However, as an Eater I’m glad to hear that she thinks WingBowl 15 is on Feb 3.
    🙂

That’s so well stated Bubba. I know Sonya must read Eatfeats. How can one not. OJ has a terrific site.

I do not believe an apology was necessary. She was not entirely unjustified in feeling what she felt that day.

You know, I expect that even after Sonya has poured her feelings of regret and remorse out to the world, there are people who visit this site who will not let alone the incident, and will hold it over her head just for spite. I hope I’m wrong about that.

Welcome back, Sonya. We all make mistakes and I’m happy that you have apologized for yours. It was a tough loss and, believe me, I know exactly how you felt at that moment. There will be many more bright spots for you in the future and it is hoped that improvements can be made in the rules when there is such a close contest. Bob’s win was well deserved and he wasn’t to blame for what happened to you and I think you fully came to that realization when the hurt subsided.

I saw the apology. From the tone of her lastest update, it sounds like the aftermath of a very generous Christmas present or wingbowl appearance fee She is such a darling of the competitive eating world that all she has to do is say “im sorry” and she is embraced and forgiven faster than you can blink your eye and especially on this site .

Sonya Thomas is a total discrace to competitive eating and should be banned forever. Lerman knows it too.
