Today is the 10 year anniversary of Sonya Thomas' debut at the Molly Pitcher Travel Plaza Nathan's qualifier in Cranbury, NJ on June 27, 2003. For the first 118 months of that decade, she was undefeated against other women.

Honestly if that Sudo i trasher is not TBW then who can it be? You mean to tell me that she has such a devout loyal following that someone would go out of their way and trash the crap out of Sudo just so they can protect the dignity and legacy of Sonya? I find it odd . Usually the one that is in danger of losing their territory that feels a need to come here and defend themself. I mean shit Seiken praises eaters on his website and probably pulls a 360 when he comes on here. Who to say Sonya wont do the same ?

Don’t you mean that Seiken pulls a 180?

Today is a day to rejoice. Sonya Thomas celebrates her 10th anniversary in the sport but instead of celebration you shower her with insults and racial remarks about her heritage Shame on all of you. If you wanted to do it right, MLE should have catered the event as black tie in a ballroom and invited Hardy Booker Kevin Lerman Seiken Jarvis and the rest of the old timers to share in the joy of the event. Sonya would have been proud

Sonya is and will always be a legend. And until MIki Sudo goes up against her in a contest one on one, everyone, and I mean everyone should stop right now because your comments are horrid and because they are just speculation. I am really disgusted with the commenters on eatfeats. Whoever is writing these, and it is hard to believe that most of the idiocy isn’t Seiken, should eat pickles and die. Sonya would never ever ever write such things about anyone. To Sonya Thomas there should be a special tribute. There would have been even on this thread were it not completely tainted.

In Seiken’s mind TBW owes him for all the free publicity he gave her over the years. So in his mind it’s nothing to celebrate at all.

Congratulations to Sonya, who played a major role in opening doors for other lady competitive eaters who followed after her. May she be around this sport for us (especially me) to appreciate her talents for years to come.
This is no slight to today’s champions (e.g. Joey, Berty, Tim, Furious Pete, and Jamie McDonald) or CE legends and pioneers, to include Cookie, Hungry Charles, Badlands, Don Moses Lerman, and others, but I must say that The Tsunami and The Black Widow will forever remain my two very special favorite competitive eaters of all time.
Their reputations precede them!

Let me also say this. I agree with Sonya (per her Web site) that Miki Sudo has immense talent and tremendous potential. I wish her the best, and I’m sure she will do well for herself.
This is quite a stretch, but even if she were to top Sonya in each and every contest for the remainder of 2013, I would be undaunted in my positive regard for Sonya’s talent and status as a legend of this sport. Again, her reputation precedes her.
Sonya is a true champion who gives her all in every event, and I suspect she has even been sick at times, but refrains from making excuses when she doesn’t win.
It is unfortunate when people make remarks like, “Well, she’s washed up, because another female beat her.” That kind of remark is unfounded, stupid, and mean-spirited. After 10 years, someone is BOUND to come along and top her, Joey, and all successive champions. That it took YEARS for Sonya to even lost to another female (Cardboard Shell and Miki) is mind-boggling, let alone 10 of them! And look who they finished ahead of do accomplish that. As such, I give credit to eaters who do finish ahead of her, versus slamming the legend with 10 years worth of triumphs.
On July 4, 2013, I don’t know who will win the ladies division, and it really doesn’t matter to me, except I want the most talented eater to win on that day. When that happens, I’ve won. And I know this: Together these two talent-laden ladies will eat about 90 HDBs. No one will really be a loser, so let’s just all enjoy the event.

So what Rhonda Evans is saying is that its ok for Sonya to get her ass whipped on a consistent basis from Sudo and deal with it? That appears to be the writing on the wall. At least Ed Jarvis was smart enough to realize that it was time to get out after the new kids on the block took over. If it becomes a give and take where Sonya and Sudo take turns beating each other then thats a different story. But if Sonya is getting a royal ass kicking from Sudo on a frequent basis, then there is really no point for her to continue unless she has no life. but eating

Ill tell you , it by chance Seiken is posting those hideous remarks about the Black Widow, then that is absolutely disgraceful. especially on a day when all of us should be celebrating her incredible legacy. I am shocked that the television networks failed to pick up on this special day. Let us ignore those pro Sudo remarks that echo out “The hills are alive with the sound of Sudo” This is Sonya time . “Black Pearl precious little girl youve been in the background much too long” Brings tears to my eyes when i hear that song

8:28: typical comment, and interpretation, which is no surprise. I certainly DO NOT think that, but was using an extreme to better make my point. But, even in that extreme, unrealistic case, unlike you, she would have a life, and still earn a little bit of money doing what she seems to enjoy.
It must be like a living hell, wallowing in misery, as you do.

8:45 sounds like Seiken, actually, trying to bring attention to himself, and make trouble, the latter being what he does best.
