2008 Shoo Fly Pie contest canceled?

The date of the 2008 Shoo Fly Pie contest was announced as June 21 and some calendars still list that event, but the contest website says that no contest is currently scheduled.

    THIS SUCKS!!!!! I JUST STARTED ENJOYING SHOO FLY PIE IN ANTICIPATION OF THIS LOCAL CONTEST. OH WELL, BACK TO HOT DOGS!

    It says “No Event Is Scheduled” which leads me to believe the entire thing (bake-off and eating contest) is cancelled. Or that they just haven’t updated their website since last year. I’m leaning toward the latter.

    The Inside Scoop – as of this time,they are not having it,the economy is bad right now,so they decided not to have it at this time,dont know if they will have it at a later date or not,Have A Nice Day 🙂

    My wife’s Grandma makes a great Shoo Fly Pie. Now if there was a Funny Cake contest somewhere. Mmmmmmmm!

    There definitely was a date and time on there for this year as of a few weeks ago. Looks like it’s cancelled to me.

    I stand corrected. That’s a bummer because this is the closest MLE contest to my home (about 40 minutes away).

    I for one am glad they cancelled they event for personal reasons. In the inaugural event 2005 i competed finished third and recieved a road map to PA and a Cd from some female country singer nobody had ever heard of .They never offered i had to ask for those items which i ended up tossing in the trashcan. Subich and Janus were paid first and second place prize money. I felt that was sort of a cold move considering the long ride from NY and the sweltering heat i had to endure before and during the contest. When i found out they paid 7 spots last year i was really upset.

    The contest has been removed from the IFOCE website so looks like that makes it offically cancelled.

    That is correct, the event was never on the IFOCE wbsite. There was a date once listed of June 21 on the site for the shoo-fly festival but that has been changed to it’s current format. THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!!
