If it’s true he just ate 29 HDBs, i have to say i expected a bigger number from Ben. Not bad though, not at all. BTW, hotdogs varies a lot from qualifier to qualifier. Let’s see what happens in the finals.

BTW i’d like Tom Gilbert to compete in Nathan’s. He’s almost as good as Pete, and he has probably better eating skills that some of the eaters that will make it to the final table (not pointing anyone, it just happens every year that someone is missing at the final table either because they tried to qualify against one of the big guys or because of the organization they are part or they aren’t part of).

Tom had every chance to commit himself to the IFOCE but he CHOSE not to sign. It’s his own fault.

Wow! I’d like to say I am impressed with 29, but when you arrogantly claim that you will “eat 55” hotdogs and don’t even come close, you deserve to be ridiculed. Nice job on the number, but it’s a far cry from 50+. AND, for those of you who think he may have ‘held back’ because of the lack of competition at the table, remember one thing…..a guy with as big as ego as Monson would NEVER have held back.

Shut up! He could have eaten 69, but why go all out? The object is to qualify. The mustard belt is Big Ben’s this year. Joey and Koby might as well stay home and relax.

For some reason hotdogs are tough to get the mechanics together the first time you ever compete in them. Add a plate on July 4. Nice job Ben!

Congrats to Ben Monson on your win. My tens of thousands and millons of fans worldwide would of loved to have me compete this year but scheduling forbids this. As many already know, I was a last minute fill in for Takeru Kobayashi and I won with 10 hot dogs in 2 minutes. Not bad for what some try to call an OLD washed up competitive eater.
This is a picture of the poster showing Koby in a hot dog eating contest in Waycross, Georgia on April 3, last month. http://twitpic.com/1d5u17
This is an up close shot of of Koby. http://twitpic.com/1d5ua4
Here is your truly after the contest. It was filmed by Georgia Public Television so it will be on TV soon. http://twitpic.com/1d5uoj
I want to give a shout out to what I call my millions of fans world-wide. Major League eating (MLE) has had a community page for a few years now. I was just informed that yours truly “The Hangman†became the first competitive eater to have ONE MILLION individual hits on his MLE Member Page. There are 2,166 registered members on this MLE Community website.
http://community.majorleagueeating.com/service/searchEverything.kickAction?as=3015&mediaType=user&sortType=popular&includeUser=on&d-7095067-p=1
I just wrapped up my second movie in nine months and am scheduled to appear in another movie, this one with an over one million dollar budget. The movie starts shooting this August which means I may not be competing to much, if at all, before Labor Day.
Now bring on the anonymous haters who are afraid to tell me to my face that I am old and washed up. How many of you have had ONE MILLION individual hits on your Major League Eating (MLE) Members page? A handful of haters here and millions of fans world wide. At least the fans show respect.
In closing I want to again extend my congrats to Ben Monson and my best wishes to all who will compete.

My friend and I, Cote Ails, were so busy sniffing Ben’s jocks yesterday that we lost track of how he did at Nathan’s. I can’t believe he actually ate 70 hot dogs like I predicted! He’ll probably eat 100 hot dogs in New York!

I could be that he held back. Who knows. If he’s capable of eating 50+, he’d be wise not to do it in the first qualifier of the season and give Joey and Koby some incentive to train harder over the next two months. Good job man. We’ll see on July 4 if he was going easy or if he’s got serious HDB skills.

It’s going tom be a dog fight between the top two eaters in the world. Joey and Bob. One of those two warriors will take the belt, but its two close to call.

I believe 2nd-4th place were all right around 12-13 HDB. . .it would be nice to record/announce all results, but I don’t think anything was relevant for the wildcard race.

WOW, Hangman ate 10 in 2 minutes last month. If he was in Vegas, in 8 minutes, he would of had second place at least. Only 2 more HDB’s in 6 minutes would give him 12.
Too bad Hangman will not compete again this year. He might of been a contender. No pun on Rocky.

i avoid reading comments from people like ray and koch because they are goody goody type remarks which provide only positive input failing to increase a sense of excitement to the board. . Comments of that nature are trivial and accomplish nothing .

If you idiots really think Ben Mongoon is a contender for the belt and held back, you’re dead wrong. With that impressive showing in Vegas, the only winning at Coney he will see is the person winning a stuffed animal at SHOOT THE FREAK on the boardwalk since that’s how far off center stage 29 HDBs will put him.
