moon pies are like scooter pies with chocolate wafer right? Or is the soft cake with vanilla creme in the middle?

I really wish Pete Miernicki would make a comeback. Compet eating hasnt been the same without him

My understanding is moonpies are two Chocolate Wafers with a Marshmallow center…..
I at first thought they were like whoopie pies.
I think the Moonpie concept is too dry to be good… perfect for a dismal competition lol =]

Are Moonpies regional? I wish I could get my hands on one right now. Sounds like a s’more with a shelf life

If moonpies are the chocolate wafer thing , its going to be a very difficult contest. There are only so many of those you can eat. Sonya can eat anything in large quantities. Badlands must have been eating them all his life to put up 30 plus

That’s basically correct Motif. I’ve been “told” you can buy moon pies at various WalMarts, 99 Cent stores, and Cracker Barrel restaurants.

Lance, the company, used to sell moon pies. I enjoyed them way, way back as a child. They made them up until a few years ago, but like many good products they got dropped (I think) a few years ago, and I haven’t seen them lately.

You had better watch out for Badlands, if indeed he is in Caruthersville. The man can put away many a moon pie in a hurry!

Don’t ask me how I know, I just know.

Tim is far from a lock in this event.

I always stock up on moonpies when i’m at Cracker Barrel @ $4 for a box of 12. I remember a similar product back in the day called scooter pies.

Scooter pies can be found in almost every supermarket in the US

Matt, they got moonpies in California. There was a moonpie contest in LA last summer with an Ipad on the line. The organizer gave Kevin the runaround, I was working that day, Excel had other plans. I heard the winner ate 14 in 8 minutes.

I dont see the point in posting negative remarks about others. What is the purpose? This site is supposed to focus on competitive eating and not about which eater is an asshole and which eater posted bad stuff about someone on their website. Really guys think about how idiotic the conversation is. Just brings more hate and more negative energy which serves no purpose at all

Ingredients1/2 cup butter, softened 1 cup white sugar 1 egg 1 cup evaporated milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 cup butter, softened 1 cup confectioners’ sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup marshmallow creme Directions Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a cookie sheet. to Make Cookie Crusts: In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter or margarine and white sugar. Add egg, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Mix well. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder. Add flour mixture slowly to sugar mixture while stirring. Mix just until all ingredients are combined. Drop the dough onto greased cookie sheet by rounded tablespoonfuls. Leave at least 3 inches in between each one; dough will spread as it bakes. Bake in preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes, until firm when pressed with finger. Allow to cool at least one hour before filling. To Make Marshmallow Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, blend together 1/2 cup butter or margarine, confectioners’ sugar, flavored extract, and marshmallow creme. Mix until smooth. Assemble pies by spreading 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls of filling on flat side of a cookie crust, then covering filling with flat side of another cookie crust.

Thanks Joe L. I’d like to taste one you made, as my baking skills are not the best, and I shattered my good mixing bowl when I knocked an old boyfriend in the head with it.
