The list of competitors in the Nathan's finals have been posted. Mak Tak Loi is listed despite not being one of the top 3 finishers in the Beijing qualifier (Lam "Chris" Yat Ming, Lu Ming Kui & Wang Ranlong). Lauren Gallagher will be one of the two women to pay her own travel expenses after being the top woman in the Boston qualifier with a total of three hot dogs. update IFOCE.com also has "bib sheets" for the male and female finalists.

LOL, I think an average american woman could eat more than 3 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Hopefully she’s been practicing

I think it’s bullcrap that the second and third qualifier from China get to make the finals….if they are picking “random” qualifiers I know many (of course, including me) who have toiled for years hoping for such a spot…..yes, we don’t deserve it either, BUT – what makes these dudes so special?? BUNK, I say!!!! Who’s with me????!?

SPB……Good Luck with that even if everyone is with you. This is all about the money and publicity for the Sheas and the sponsors. This year, without Kobayashi who they really tried to get back, they are going with women (very clever) and China because why? Nathans is entering that market big time. It has nothing to do with the eaters abilities. They just need Chinese in this year’s contest. That is what makes them special.

There are plenty of Chinese downtown in New York and it will cost a lot less to bring them to Coney. Then they can open up spots for long time hot dog gurgitators like Super Paul, Steakbellie & Wild Bill. Everyone would love to see these dedicated eaters up on the stage just one time.
