Legs made it to Coney Island 9 years running, from 2002 through 2010, before his absence last year. He is expected to make it. It would be news if he didn’t.

I won’t lie, I was rooting for Beast as it’s his first year and he’s shown alot of dedication, but Conti is a verteran and missed out last year, both were well deserving. & before all the hate and speculation start, realize that the total Conti won with is basically right on par with his average, it’s not like he shot up 10 hot dogs to win. After talking with him in Bangkok and Singapore, I got the sense he was going to put alot into this year as he was bummed out about missing last years finals, so a personal best is not surprising to me. I’m not a fan of all the results ive seen, but this one I have no doubt is kosher.

Okay OJ lay it out for us. Does this give Conti the record for the most qualifiers to the big show, or is that Booker? They both have to be going on at least 10 trips to Coney. I’m pretty sure this would be Sonya’s ninth straight so I don’t know if she’s got a consecutive thing going now that they’ve switched women’s only.

Booker has 97,98 3000-2006 2008-2010 for a total of 12 (You can probably assume he will get the wild card this year to make it 13.)

Sorry folks, I was next to Crazy Legs and would be the first to bitch if he cheated. There was some bun debris, for which he took a deduction and still had 25.25. L.A. Beast and him were neck and neck to the end. I’d have hated to be Sam and have to make that call, but it was a legitimate performance by Crazy Legs. He won the contest fairly.

I was on between CLC and next to LAbeast it was legit they both crushed some dogs. And Mike and I had a good view of his magic gloves. Beast is super nice and CLC is socially akward.

look at the pic of his plate. He took a 1.25 HDB deduction for the debris. The amount of debris was all bun with no meat, so 1.25 is a legitimate deduction. Sorry folks, messes are part of the dunking contests. This isn’t a neat eating contest

Record Master, this will be Sonya’s 10th consecutive Nathan’s Finals appearance, 2003-2012. As OJ pointed out last year, until Legs missed the Finals in 2011, he had the longest consecutive run—-9 (2002-2010), but now Sonya does.

Two things….
one, after watching the footage, seeing the debris picture, and reading these comments, i feel it’s pretty clear Conti/Beast were given fair trial here. Debris is debris, is unavoidable. In my eyes alittle mess is competely fine & if it’s excessive deductions should be made. Conti won, stop complaining about it
2nd, I really don’t know what Conti persists on useing gloves at every contest, ruining them, and leaving them at the table. I mean, if he wants to clear his record, he sure knows how NOT to do it. It makes it look so much more suspicious and seems unnessasary.

MOTIF those gloves come three in a pack at a 99cent store or home depot 3 for $2 . He is not stupid you will be surprised how much debris can be absorbed in those gloves . Maybe others should try the same especially the ones that have no capacity like him

A loss that close has got to be so very hard to swallow (no pun intended). I can tell you though, that since I started following Legs in 2002, he has been on the losing end of at least three or four HDB qualifiers in which he lost by a dog or so, the first of which was his close loss at MacArthur’s in Norfolk, 2003, in which I thought he won, but the judges didn’t.
So Beast, I don’t know if you’ll make it this year or not, but if you don’t, there’s no need to despair. All you can do is your best, and a 25-dog effort in your first official qualifier is very, very admirable!
