2013 Nathan’s qualifier circuit announced
update – The full list of dates & sites has been posted. Registration will open at noon eastern tomorrow.
The full 2013 Nathan’s qualfier circuit should be out today. Dates which have already been announced:
- March 23, Coney Island Boardwalk
- April 6, Savannah (Drayton Street at East Bay Street)
- April 13, Miami (K-Mart)
- April 20, Las Vegas (NYNY Hotel / Casino)
- May 4, Naples, FL (Mercato’s)
- June 2, St. Paul, MN (Grand Avenue Grand Old Day)
- June 8, Calgary (Cross Iron Mills Mall)
- June 12, Pittsburgh (Market Square)
- June 15, Atlanta (Cypress Pint & Plate)
- June 22, Boston (Phantom Gourmet Beach BBQ Party
- June 29, Queens, NY Mets ballpark
- June 29, East Rutherford, NJ (Meadowlands)
Other probable sites: Las Vegas, Miami, Naples, FL, Atlanta and Savannah, GA, St. Paul, MN, Queens, Pittsburgh, and East Rutherford, NJ (A commenter noticed that Cleveland was dropped from the original list, which drops the number of contests outside east coast states to 3.)
Nathan’s will sponsor a hat giveaway at the June 29 Mets vs. Nationals game, so the Queens qualifier will probably take place on that date.

Denmark and Lesco are prolly bummed that AZ is a no go, how many years in a row did Tempe have a qualy?

It’s not just the west coast that is lacking in qualifiers. Vegas is the only qualifier south of Minneapolis and east of Atlanta (and despite the east-coast orientation of the circuit, there are no contests between south Jersey and South Carolina.)
The Arizona Mills qualifier goes back to at least 2003. It is possible that Nathan’s and Mills Malls had a falling out since the Concord Mills qualifier, going back to 2007 was also dropped.

Guy’s, I’m still not convinced the MLE is going to let Miki Sudo eat. I hope they do, but MLE will only do so if they can confidently protect the Nathan’s brand from an eater with a past that would be difficult to explain away. And, don’t slought it off that it’s equivalent to a “prank call.” The finals are in New York, and remember, her violation centered around air travel on an anniversary very near and dear to the hearts of many New Yorkers. I’ve seen MLE send eaters home for lesser infractions. It’s nothing against Sudo, she seems like a nice person and a good eater, but this is business. Also, I think Sudo is going to have to do some convincing that she would not wind up being untrustworthy like Stephanie Torres and just take Nathan’s money and spotlight and go back to being an independent.

5:32 p.m. — How, by any stretch of the imagination, could Stephanie Tores, who signed her name to agreement, took money for signing that agreement, including a trip and hotel, and a week later she is violating that agreement in disguise and under a fake name, be considered trustworthy. Torres is just lucky Nathan’s and the Sheas didn’t sue her for the amount of money they spent on her based on her worthless word. If that’s how you judge being trustworthy, the Shea’s should consider your assessment of them as quite an endorsement of their honesty. I hope your not one of those independent eaters advising Miki Sudo. Because if you are, Sudo’s chances of eating in Vegas just got significantly worse.

Stephane Torres little disgusie she put on to get into a contest while under contract with IFOCE , was comparable to wearng a sky mask and withdrawing money from an ATM credit card thinking she wont get caught when they come after her for the money . The camera sees through the mask like someone saw through that joke of a disguise. How can you compare Sudo to Torres. Two different breeds of people. Sudo pulled a spur of the moment prank which she regrets . If Sudo signed a contract i bet she would honor it till the conract expired. She also knows how to say “thank you ” I assume that some of you jealous jerks will fwd the article about Sudo conviction to the Sheas hoping it will change their minds. I doubt it. One thing i know about the Sheas is that they have minds of their own and hey hate instigators and troublemakers more than the unfortunate victims of the crime itself

11:53 a.m. — Look, no one has to show the Shea’s anything. If you don’t think they do the basics of checking the background of a selected eater, you’re only kidding yourself. There’s too much danger of some wife beating low life making their way to New York. Secondly, if you think ESPN, The Daily News, or the general public, etc., is going to be fine with a response that Sudo’s actions “was a spur of the moment prank,” your understanding public relations needs a lot of work. I hope Sudo’s not listening to you in how she intends to respond to inquiries about her record. She needs show tremedous contrition, deep regret for any difficulties her actions may have caused, and has learned a valuable lesson in which she hopes people could forgive her. A lesson, that gives her even greater appreciation for the opportunity to now appear on one of America’s greatest stages. That’s how you handle that situation. If Sudo can figure that out, she has a chance to go to Vegas. I hope she does.

Lets see Gavonne show up in Coney with a camera pointed directly at him while Seiken or someone else follows him around waiting for him to say something. It will be hilarious watching the stalker get stalked. Note how Gavonne claims Seiken is fearful of him but yet he wont go anywhere without that cheap cell camera by his side. Why is that ? Plain and simple so he can create a fake video that he can edit making it appear that Seiken is afraid of him. . Seiken slugs him he has it all on video as evidence or maybe maybe he just wants footage for his pathetic site that nobody visits or comments on . Throw the camera away and i bet you even money Seiken will meet you anytime any place . The reason why not one person has yet to jump the stage and beat the living crap out of you is that they have much more to lose than hitting a down and out low life creep with no friends no life no nothing.
