Sun-Sentinel reports that expected entrants in Sunday's contest at the Sweet Corn Fiesta in West Palm Beach include Sonya Thomas, Bob Shoudt, Erik Denmark, Jon Bello, Craig Reed and defending champion Crazy Legs Conti.

    First, let me get this out of my system: My vocabulary is now up to 4 letters: OMPV as in OV = MVP! Go #CAPS! Russian Machine Never Breaks!

    Okay, now that that’s done, anyone, and I mean ANYone, can win this corn contest. Once you go “into the corn” (reflecting on the movie, “Striptease”), anything can happen.

    It’s frightening, really, and fascinating at the same time. Corn is a great “equalizer,” whereby, with few exceptions, anybody in the top 30 could knock off Joey Chestnut or anyone else, which is probably why most of the best eaters stay away—-too many intangibles / things eaters cannot control.

    I think Brian Seiken had a pretty good showing in corn last year finishing only 1/2 ear behind Yasir Saleem

    BB did have a decent showing. Actually, it would be possible for him to finish in the money in that event against some top 10 eaters.
