Its great just for the trip..As far as competition there is none.Year after year the same thing..Why not make it like league bowling were you add points to each eater to even out the playing field

The trip is what makes it worthwhile. Coming to New York for three days, eating at some nice restaurants, seeing a play or two, walking about 10 miles a day taking in the sights and, of course, the main event on July 4. If the contest were only for those who train the hardest, it would be a very small field of eaters. Most of us are just there to have a good time and try our best. Every man who has qualified deserves to be on the stage (unfortunately only about six or seven women so far deserve the honor). I believe 15 should be the minimum for women.

The only consolation is that womans contest gets minimal exposure . If you want to think of espn3 as media exposure its comparable to going live via webcam on facebook
