I think this is the first time Joey Chestnut’s contest total has ever been doubled. Even in his first Nathan’s finals in 2005, he still ate about 2/3 of what Takeru Kobayashi did (32 hot dogs vs. 49)
Joey Bosa finished ahead of MLE’s #6 eater, Gideon Oji.
In a post contest interview on stage, Darrien Thomas said he not only abstained from training, he had never eaten a pistachio before the competition. That handicap did not prevent him from finishing second.
TMZ has an interview with Los Angeles Chargers defender Joey Bosa about competing in today’s Wonderful Pistachios Get Crackin’ Eating Championship at the Santa Monica Pier. Bosa is not the first NFL defensive lineman to compete in a Major League Eating contest, In 2003 William Perry competed in the Nathan’s hot dog finals and ate 4 hot dogs before quitting midway through the competition. In 2005, Perry also particpated in the Trip Rewards World Birthday Cake Eating Championship and finished last.

Other than announcing Webb’s winning total, it seems like MLE has imposed a blackout on the contest. They have yet to post any of the other official results and no competitor has posted anything about the contest on twitter.

I have video. Why is his pile of shells smaller than second and third and he did so much more? Where are his shells? Where are proof. He ate the shells. He ate the whole unit. You can see in multiple times how quickly he was going and there were no shells going into the cracked pile. How far is this guy willing to go to use fraud in competitive to make us all look bad. Mle needs to take his title away.

It does seem odd that he could win by such a large margin versus everyone else. The rules said you can’t eat them whole??
How did they do the counts? did they count the empty shells? or just provide eaters with a given number of pistachios during the contest, and then count the remaining whole pistachios at the end? (i.e., they backed into the amount that were eaten, even if the empty shells amount didn’t match…)

I just watched the video again. Even the amount of time his hand goes to his face. It’s not possible he out paced everyone by even close to that much. Cheating has to be handled. This isn’t a YouTube video it’s a contest

In the Santa Monica Closeup video there is unfortunately indisputable evidence of Webb not following the rules. He should come forward and admit it. I don’t agree with people attacking his fidelity to his wife on this forum..

I was the commenter at 5:36pm. I wasn’t serious about him and Raina, mostly just giving him a hard time because of the clear rule-breaking involved in the Pistachio contest. I don’t think he’s being unloyal to his wife at all. But I agree, he should come forth and admit he did not properly un-shell all of the pistachios. He knows the truth of what transpired that day, and he’ll gain more respect if he admits it rather than ignores the fact that everybody recognized his cheating…

Well if anything comes from this, and James actually was swallowing lots of shells, we can all know with absolute certainty that his food gets thrown up. There is no way the digestive system could handle more than a whole bag of those undigestible shells, many with sharp edges and more. That is a hospital trip waiting to happen, unless all thrown up. So he did all that, knowing it was coming up anyway. Too many sunflower seed shells isn’t even good for you.

Even though all the competitors are salty we didn’t win , attacking spouses and integrity is not ok
That footage is quite telling that many competitors ate shells , among other tactics .. it happens … same as other contests when people dunk for longer than 5 seconds , or kick debris onto the floor
There are other external factors at play that have been kept quiet and this time Webby has been at the forefront of it – he’s in the spot light because he has been a constant disrupter
But now it has passed and many of us can reflect, most of these posts were done out of the sheer fact of losing , I’m sure that given all footage released now , Steve would have seconds thoughts about the one he circulated too everyone’s inbox
Moral to this story – people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones

So I was told someone on here commented as me. This is Nick Wehry. That 5:27 comment is not me. Keep me out of this dumpster fire. James cheated and swallowed shells apparently and a fair amount of them. Not sure if others did. I can say with 100% certainty that in 2 years doing that contest I haven’t swallowed 1 shell. I want to win but won’t cheat to take money from others. That’s wrong to me. But hey, to each their own I guess. With that said, if you’re a cheater. Don’t bother talking to me. All the best

Stop attacking this Aussie lad , if you look at the footage objectively instead of your preconceived ideas – you will see not much vision of shells at all coming out of anyone’s hand , with out proper technology on the table nobody will ever know
Based on the footage , most eaters had a similar hand action . So if this Nick lad is saying he didn’t eat one shell… well either did the winner … purely based on hand actions and vision available
Also , how about getting out to an event instead of sitting here behind your screens being experts

11:55. What video did you watch? It was very clear. I don’t know why he cheated. Looks like by his pace it would of been a very close 3 way battle for 1st. It makes it even worse that he isn’t owning up to it. Even those who slipped hotdogs into their pockets owed up to it. It’s hard to lose a bad reputation.

In his Facebook reel that came out today, you can see pretty clearly somewhere around the 40 or 41 second mark that he blatantly picks up a whole pistachio and puts it right in his mouth.
I agree that spouses / families shouldn’t be targeted or attacked on this site–99% of the time. In the case of Kate, she has taken it upon herself to comment on this site in the past, and thus opened herself up to potential criticism–just like everyone else. She made some ridiculous arguments when Webb first hit the US CE scene, trying to dispel the “rumors” that he did not throw up his food. Instead, he “burns it all off”, or that “he has gained substantial weight since starting his eating endeavors”. (in reality, his weight normalized after a bodybuilding show diet, and it’s clear he has since not put on Randy-Santel kind-of-weight).
So yea, don’t attack families, but also if you’re not a CE’er yourself, probably don’t post on this website. Once you do, your probably fair game for the vultures to pick at you.

If we’re talking about objectively, if he truly ate that many more wouldn’t his shell pile in the bowl be 50% larger and more than twice the size of some of the others? That should’ve been easily noticeable. It doesn’t look that way in anyone’s video. I’m not saying he cheated, but apparently his shells were all just smaller because that pile makes no sense

My best guess is that swallowing the shell was not against the contest rules, but the sponsor & MLE do not want to encourage the public or comp. eaters to attempt swallowing shells. (dangerous + they have to be vomited out)
Heavy D’s latest podcast revealed the pile of whole nuts was weighed afterward, so it looks like although a brutal way of doing it, James was within the rules here.
What gets me here is that James was the only one willing to do it. Possibly dangerous, but within the rules and it got the win.
