All this sneaking around by sponsors flying out select eaters in MLE has really got to stop. How do you think it makes the others feel who pluck down there own hard earned cash while the silvier spoon is given to others . The people that resent these type of remarks are the very same ones that live the life of riley in competitive eating. I would bet that they be singing a completly different tune if they were the overlooked ones, while the others got the royal carpet treatment

I totally agree with 930am comment. I saw the link from the sponsor on BB latest editorial . All about eater x is coming eater x is coming WXEK in Memphis Good morning Memphis WQAV tv More eater x. . Sickening is the better phrase . Some need to learn the meaning of the word “etiquette” It certainly does not apply with this sponsor. . We are promoting the “star” and everyone else takes a back seat. You dont like it too bad!

The IFOCE is a for-profit business, which would surely go “tits up” if they didn’t attend more to eaters with the talent. And, unfortunately, their motto must be, “What talent have you shown lately.”
If that were NOT their focus, their contests would be little more than spare time picnic ventures.
Eaters can always not sign if they’re disappointed. It’s still a free country, even if it has become a bit more socialist in the last year-and-a-half.

You’re kidding, right? This is gotta be a joke thread. Sponsorship means you pay money for advertising – get it? They do what they think is best for their business. Neither the sponsors nor MLE is terribly concerned with your feelings. This isn’t a hard concept to understand. Nobody in Memphis (or anywhere else, really) gives a damn about yet another bad Elvis impersonator – they’ve seen plenty. Nobody begs anyone to do any of this stuff. If you want to participate, great. Otherwise stay home and quit whining.

The Isle is a good sponsor people. They are throwing how many events this year, eight? The people they are have running the shows on site are nice and helpful if you need anything. The table ender eaters are going to have to do better or no one cares if they are there. Hell I know because I am one and if your not doing it for fun then your a moron.

guess it is obvious from the description of the video that Bob did not get flown out:
IsleofCapriCasinoInc — April 23, 2010 — Watch as a field of 11 professional, competitive eaters including Tim “Eater X” Janus, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, “Nasty” Nathan Biller, Benjamin “The Hungry Wolf ” Taylor and Sean “Flash” Gordon duked it out in this exciting rib eating competition at Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Lula, MS on April 17, 2010. The event was sanctioned by Major League Eating and held during the Greater Mississippi State BBQ Championship Cook-Off.

IFOCE: Hello Mr. Radio station manager, we have this competitive eater who would to talk on the radio and we would like to have him appear on your show to promote a contest.
RADIO STATION MANAGER: We’ll does your eater have any eating records?
IFOCE: Well, not really.
RADIO STATION MANAGER: Has your eater ever won any contests?
IFOCE: Well, not really.
RADIO STATION MANAGER: Then why would we want him on our radio show?
IFOCE: Never mind.

You are wrong they are a selfish sponsor catering to their own needs not looking to provide any perks for others but saving the coupons for the select few. Roy Rogers & Dorney Park are examples of good sponsors catering to the needs of the competitors. They offered free hotel stay for Fri and Sat . The are supplying free admission and parking pass for all the eaters. Has Isle of Capri shown the same love ? Just because sponsor smiles in your face and says hello to you when you forked over an arm and a leg in airfare and hotel doesnt make them better people. You have a strange perception of what a “good sponsor” is. Show me the money or take care of ones needs and you upgrade from bad to good in a heartbeat

IFOCE: We have this competitive eater that has accumulated tons of titles
RADIO STATION MANAGER: Is he good looking?
IFOCE : Not really but he can eat big
RADIO STATION MANAGER: We were looking more along the lines of someone that can fit the suit
IFOCE: What do you mean?
RADIO STATION MANAGER: You know someone with matinee looks, movie star material
IFOCE : Sorry he doesn’t have any of those qualities but we have a someone that can sing but is up there in age .
RADIO STATION MANAGER: Sorry i dont care if he sings like Elvis Presley, the last thing we need is an old fart with a bad appetite on our show .

Roy Rogers did NOT offer free hotel stays to ALL the eaters. Neither did Dorney Park.

None of the IFOCE eaters paid for a room at the Isle in Biloxi that I know about. Did you even ask for a free room at any of the others? But be real if your not any good then you are not getting a free flight. Look you know going in that there are going to be only so many people in the money and to get perks.

Why would your comments be deleted??
They are always respectful, & even though often ramble, occasionally provide insight.

Good to hear it was a spam filter issue. In related news, there goes my theory that “Rhonda Evans” is OJ Rifkin’s commenting alias.
