How am I harrassing Menchetti(or anyone) by showing up & videoing a contest?He was the one who approahed me while I was sitting minding my own businessWhy did he even come up to me when all he had to say was “No comment”.The others mentioned I was only defending myself against their slams of me.Things always get twisted around against me & I get portrayed as a villain when all want is to spread love to eveyone.

I’ll take the bait. He was in an area he shouldn’t have been in, that he was prevented from entering before. Since I don’t like involving the authorities in anything, I thought I might have a reasoned conversation with him. As well as making it so he couldn’t say I was running scared of him as he’s done w/others. I did not want to have this conversation recorded. The 1st thing he did was put the camera in my face. W/the trouble & stress he has either caused or in my case, has tried to cause, I certainly was not going to give him an interview. Did anyone notice how he treated me like I was a cop who had just pulled him over? Yes sir, no sir, thank you sir….
I believe I have 23 more months to make an official complaint on his blackmail attempt. If he continues his bs with me OR OTHERS. I will be forced to press charges. If the Letterman guy, who could afford a lawyer, instead of a public defender got time, imagine how much time a loser like this guy will get. He probably doesn’t belong in jail, psych ward yes. But just so he’s away, would be good.
The funny thing is the worst thing i’ve done to this guy, was snub him when I came out of the bathroom @ Dani’s last yr. THAT’S IT! It wasn’t even in front of anyone. The 1st time I recall meeting him, @ Bun & Cheese in Mt. Vernon?, I walked away in less than 5 minutes, because I could tell there was something wrong w/this guy.
Warning to anyone who hasn’t had trouble with this guy, yet. Your time is coming, you have been warned.

It is very difficult to prevent people from floating rumors which can cause trouble. It seems as if that happened in this case. Lots of rumors are floated right here and by anonymous people. Actual blackmail probably has to be in writing and demand money, I believe. If you do not give me a certain amount, I will reveal such and such. But he has sort of already revealed the rumor and even on another site this rumor was floated. Libel is only for the extremely wealthy and big business, and even then it is usually a losing battle, at least monetarily. Gavonne has had problems and doesn’t seem to want to find new outlets away from competitive eating. But taking him on here verbally and elsewhere just keeps him in the game. Actually from the tape it looks as if Menchetti did the right thing not fueling any fires and not really saying anything. Sounds smart to me. Everyone has the right to not be interviewed by someone without a press pass or official status or even someone without same if the person chooses. The choice is usually up to the eaters unless you have agreed in advance through MLE to be interviewed.

In an area I shouldn’t have been?Give me a break,I sat down in a folding chair in the back of the tent,off to the side of the stage after the contest was long over because I needed to rest & there wasn’t anywhere else to sit.If it was to be a reasoned conversation why didn’t you want it recorded?It seemed like you came over to intimidate me,but when I turned on the camera.you had nothing to say.And how exactly was it ‘a blackmail attempt’ if I didn’t demand $$$ or anything from you?What were my demands?If you’d like to do a real interview,or have a real conversation,I’m all ears.I am not looking for any trouble,my biggest mistakes have been that I would get drunk & write stupid shit that I regret later.Thank you,sir.

And for the record, he specifically came to the eaters tent, pre-contest, to make sure his presence was known. Went to the middle of the crowd and then came back to the area, post-contest, when they were clearing up and waved to us like we were all good buddies. After a millionth apology email for causing unsolicited harassment the day before.
He states, at the beginning of his blog “I knew I had to go to show everyone that I wasn’t afraid of this so called ‘Gentleman’.” and then claims he couldn’t find a seat “I looked for a place to sit down & the only chairs were at the side of the stage.I went & sat down”.
That’s right folks. He couldn’t find a seat at a public park. Fucking genius.

Anon 4:01 – That’s the problem with this guy, you leave him alone and he still bothers you. This fucking guy goes to jail for harassment and the first thing he does is send an email to myself and Jill. Seriously?
Let’s expose the truth. Here are a selection of emails sent to me, all unsolicited….
First, he went on his 10th apology tour and asked what he could do for forgiveness…
“If there is anything I can do please tell me & I will do it.I don’t know what else I can say-just tell me & I’ll do it.”
And I gave a reasonable response and hoped that this would finally be the end of it…
“Jo,
You only need to do one thing. Stop messaging, stop mentioning, and stop blogging about anything that has to do with Jill. Stay away from her, myself and anyone else that she’s affiliated with. It’s that simple. You do that, your life is better off. You don’t seem to be
capable of doing it. If you do, you wouldn’t have to explain anything. We’d all be happy if you just left everyone alone. End of story.
Will”
His response…
“if I do that do I have assurance that she will not have me prosecuted for mistakes I made my 1st week out of jail?I will move on but I need to know I’m in the clear.”
And mine…
“Dude. She can’t report anything you’re not doing. Don’t do it and she won’t have anything to report.”
Now again, somewhere else, the conversation of him coming to contests came up and again I calmly reiterated that he should stay away from me if he didn’t want trouble and I received this email…
“Are you telling me if I attempt to interview you you’ll call the cops or get violent with me?What are you going to do at Dani’s,or is that all arranged?I haven’t & won’t contact her but I figured if you were a fair guy you would give me a chance.Just between 2 guys can’t we find a mutual understanding?I guess you never heard of bros before hos or has she brainwashed you to believe that I am a monster that should be put back in jail.I’m willing to shake hands & move on,are you? ”
Again, my response…
Get it through your head… I wish no ill will but don’t want to play friends either. You asked me what you needed to do to stay out of trouble and I told you, stay away from and don’t contact jill or anyone she’s associated with. Im associated. Just leave me the hell alone man. I’m not calling anyone. Just leave me alone. End of story.
This is the response that pushed me. I had been pretty civil up until this message and just got fed up…
“It’s pretty pathetic that you have to hide behind a girl.I guess a guy who looks like you doesn’t have many female friends so you have to kiss their ass.really pathetic.you can’t deny that you are an associate of mine,also:we were in many eating contests that had nothing to do with her so that whole “associated” thing is pure crap & unbelieveably pathetic.see you at Dani’s final.”
To which I now responded angrily…
“There are only a couple of things that would happen that would make you confront you. And if you do any of them, I’ll come out of “hiding” and show you exactly how scared I am. Back the fuck off. And if you dont back the fuck off. Instead of being nice about all this, I will call you out to every promoter of every contest you show up to, in front of the entire audience and make an even bigger fool out of you than you are making yourself. Shut your mouth and back off. I’m being serious.” I have kept my promise thus far.
His response…
“you really think that would bother me?I would love the attention.you’re no fun anymore,anyway.”
A few days later, a threat…
“you might like the new look of my blog.this is payback for badmouthing me to contest promoters.if I hear you badmouthed me again it’ll be a lot worse.”
And then sent me this…

This has nothing to do with the BWF but since Will, Joe and Jo have all been commenting and they are known and not anonymous, it seems to me as a bystander that there is more than enough evidence to try to finish this story. In order to do that, I would consider, if I were the moderator or OJ, to stop allowing any further comments by Gavonne as well as any references to him. Since JGoe and Will post under their own names and probably their comments are not held for moderation, they would have to agree to this also. The first comment in this thread is on topic. The next by anonymous is what started the whole shebang. If people want fans and eaters to post here about competitive eating, disagree, agree, exchange information, this kind of thread does nothing to keep them and sponsors in play. The last quote from GJoe is pretty scary. I am sure that he will decide what to do about it.

I too was on the receiving end of 7 or more hate mails from Mr Rose sent to my feedback page which i saved in a folder. The emails were accompanied by headings to make me aware as to who sent them. . I have yet to open them up nor do i have any interest in opening and reading the emails. It serves no purpose whatsoever unless i want to pursue harassment charges. . We are dealing with a confused disorientated soul trying to get me excited but it didn’t work. You see Jo, you done messed with the wrong people. People that have been on the circuit for awhile . Joe Menchetti and myself do not have to resort to physical violence to get our points across. The power of the keypad can be pretty damaging to say the least. I could have buried you ten times over on my website for some of the shit that you said about me but i took the high road and let you knock yourself out with anti semitic swastikas and what have you. Prejudice comes from within and unfortunately your parents relatives or whomever instilled this hate into your bloodstream. When a white person refers to a black person as a nigger it hits home. When a non Jew refers to a Jew as a Nazi it hits home. You knew exactly what you were doing when you planted that nazi emblem on my image. Some competitive eaters are not as stupid as they look. Like myself he can destroy you with the keypad and so far he has succeeded in embarrassing and humiliating you at the same time. To others beside myself Will, Joe and US Male the name Jo Rose was unclear to many. After Joe and Will testimony i think fans of the sport have a better perspective of who you are and what you’ve done. Will i commend you . It took alot of guts to post some of those crude remarks that were made about you. This obsession with Jill Stoler is bizzare beyond belief. It reminds me of the Rebecca Shaefer story the 21 yr old actress from the tv show my sister Sam who was cut down by a stalkers bullet in 1989. Not sayin that this guy is a potential murderer but history has proven that sometimes obsession for the female gender results in anything but a happy ending. If Conti, Booker, Janus, Chestnut Pretty boy and others deem it harmless in granting future interviews to Mr Rose, then that is their choice. I take the 5th on that one because i just might say something that the names mentioned might not want to hear. Bottom line is you can continue doing what youre doing but remember that payback is a bitch for if you continue your evil ways we will make every effort to have you banned from competitive eating events as a participant and a spectator. And if you want to continue your little mud slinging charade on the net , be my fu– guest. Remember the favor will be returned in spades.

Anony 4:01 name one competitive eater that in your estimation has ever turned down an interview with anyone? CEaters are not big time hollywood celebrities and more than likely never will be. Time is money factor does not apply to them. Most are more than grateful to be put on a pedestal even if the pedestal is provided by a Jo Rose Gavonne.

Pedestal? Come on. I don’t think anyone considered it an honor or a thrill to be interviewed by Rose. I think the guys mentioned (Davekos, Booker, Janus, Conti, Chestnut) were just being decent and polite and trying to do something nice for someone who asked for a mere minute of their time.

The photo is offensive knowing that Seiken is Jewish. Nothing funny about it. Nothing amusing whatsoever about Hitler. Yet a Jewish actor and playwright had people laughing in the aisles at his wildly popular “The Producers” on Broadway. I think it seems okay to make fun of one’s own origins or religion but others should definitely not.
