(From RussK) A qualifier schedule listed below with a somewhat different list of sites from the list at ifoce.com appears at nathansfamous.com. All qualifiers with a fixed date on the Nathan’s list are the same on both schedules. Qualifiers preceded with an asterisk do not appear on the IFOCE list:

The Florida Panthers contest in Sunrise, FL was or is set for March 24. If anyone wants to go and save some money, you can get FREE rooms (Suites) at some Ramada and Days Inns in Ft. Laurderdale and Hollywood. I just got my room confirmations for that weekend and both rooms would of cost almost $400.00. Instead they are FREE. One of them is on the ocean!
If there is any interest and OJ wants, I can post the details on how to get FREE rooms that weekend while they still are available at that price The same plan might also get you FREE rooms for other contests.

As requested here is one way to try and get FREE rooms for not only the Nathan’s Qualifiers but any other eating contest.
First visit http://www.triprewards.com. Look at the nine (9) hotels at the bottom. They all have what is called a “Best Rate or its FREE Guarantee†policy. What that means is if you find a lower rate almost anywhere on the Internet, for a similar room, your room is FREE. I’ve been doing this since 2005 and have gotten well over 20 nights for FREE so I know it works. When you choose a hotel chain, look on their home page and click on “special offersâ€. Here you can find the details to this FREE program.
As it pertains to Nathan’s in Sunrise, FL. Here is how I got my rooms FREE. I did a search for hotels with rooms available on the Trip Rewards site. I then used a few search engines to find what others might be offering these rooms for. It may take a few tries on different search engines and travel sites so expect to do a little bit of work at home on your computer to get these FREE rooms.
In Hollywood, Florida I found great rates for that weekend at Days Inn near I-95 and the Ramada Beach Resort on the ocean.
Days Inn offers King size non-smoking room for $219.00. That is over $243 with taxes and fees. Well, I found Hotels.com offered the same room for only $199. I booked my room on Days Inn and after I got my confirmation number I filed a claim with Days Inn listing where I found the room at a lower price than what they listed. About 4 hours later I got a reply from Days Inn saying they did a search and found I was correct. So with that they changed my confirmation from $243.09 to $0.00 (FREE).
Ramada Inn was a similar story but better. This motel offers four types of rooms that you might get FREE. They are Studios and Suites that range from $180 ($199.80 with taxes and fees) up to $260 ($288.60 with taxes and fees).
Looking at other travel websites I found http://www.onetravel.com beats all these prices. So I booked a Suite with Ramada and then using my confirmation number I filed a claim with Ramada for there “Best Rate or its Free†program. It took a few hours to get a reply but now I have over $500.00 of hotel rooms for FREE.
As I said at the beginning, this works with all contests that we eaters attend. And I say any money we lower end eaters can save as we strive for that payday is money well earned. This can also be used if you want to take a vacation or just grab a night with your loved one and away from the kids.
Just a note: Room rates like airfare and car rental rates have been known to change on an hourly schedule. If the room you want is not available, just try another room or another hotel.

Hangman – Wow, I didn’t try it yet but if that really works to get free hotel rooms, that is sweet. The power of consumer curiousity and persisitence can always win. Thanks for sharing, I’ll give it a try the next time I am looking.

Thank you Erik. You can give it a try anytime you want. I’ve gotten rooms from NY to California. One good thing is the room reservations need a credit card to make the reservation but do not get charged until the day you plan to stay. That gives you time to file the claim, since it must be within 24 hours, and if your claim is denied or you change your travel plans you can cancel the reservation without a charge on your credit card. I even had two rooms reserved at the same time in two different towns. One in Atlanta and the other in LA. The chance that my connecting flight in Atlanta would be missed was very high and with no other flight until 9 the next morning, I decided to book 2 rooms as insurance. Both rooms were FREE under the Free program I mentioned and eventhough I did not end up checking into the hotel in Atlanta, I never got charged on my credit card because the room rate was $0.00.
So my advice is if you think you might want a room 6 months or so down the road, now might be a good time to try and get it for free. With these 9 hotel sites you can cancel at no charge as the time draws nearer if you want. Unlike like if you booked at Expedia or Travelocity or other sites that say they charge the Credit Card when you book.
