Hall Hunt poll #2 out

Hall Hunt has updated his eaters poll with new results. The top 10 (of 25) in that list:

1. Joey Chestnut (3 1st place votes, 315 points)
2. Takeru Kobayashi (10 1st place votes, 302 points)
3. Patrick Bertoletti
4. Bob Shoudt
5. Tim Janus
6. Sonya Thomas
7. Chip Simpson
8. Rich LeFevre
9. Seaver Miller
10. Juliet Lee

Somebody must have left Kobayashi unranked, or ranked him low for him to not be #1 despite receiving 10 of 13 first place votes.

    (Butch) You can certainly tell that the votes do not represent people who know anything about competitive eating talent. This is just blind subjectivity. Both St Patricks Day and July 4th events will make these results look even more ridiculous.

    (Butch) One of the important criteria that is or should be used in rankings is one’s ability to win contests against top ten competitors, at least once in awhile. It is kind of like having a killer instinct, but with the ability to back it up. Koby is untouchable. After him, Joey, Sonya, Pat, and Rich have full complements of it. After them that particular quality is basically absent.

    If you add together the number of such victories (against top 10 competition) of all eaters outside of those five you will be hard pressed to get out of the single digits. Those four Americans I mentioned are capable of winning any non Kobayashi event.

    Bob Shoudt finished so far back in wing bowl they had to send a search party after him so the could get home safely. How’s that for one of Philly’s best. Damn! And he is # 4? Gimme a brake!

    I believe Thomas and Lee are worthy of being in the top 25 but way below Conti and Boone who both can eat circles around them.
