    On a sidenote though, it’s great theres gonna be a contest sporting a big purse in an equalizer type food. I’m sure this contest has sparked alot of fire in otherwise unlit/dim bellys! Good Luck to everyone, maybe ill stop by and watch since its so close to Nathans

The person “I like Chicken” who made the 10:37 pm post is likely that person, as not two hours elapsed to the time that comment was made from when it appeared online, and the forum it appeared in is not exactly mainstream media. The large purse must have sent him, pushed his jealousy, over the edge. Sounds so much like that guy who once claimed to be an eater and wore those stupid looking dog ears. What was his name? Chew Hound Chirpman, Chapped Ass Chump Canine, or something like that. I can’t really remember because he was never really that good, and I might be totally wrong about that jerk being the jerk who wrote the piece.

    Thanks Rhonda for finding that Gothamist article. I also laughed at the first comment, considering we now have a women’s division:

    Ms. Thomas’s effort netted her third place overall, but it’s important to note that she took first place among the American entrants. The Black Widow has raised the bar for all Yanks in this, the Superbowl of competitive-eating events.

    On another note, I think that Nathan’s should also do away with the antiquated activity of scoring records by gender. It is offensive for the hot-dog purveyor to assume that women cannot compete at the same level as men in this sport. Clearly that is not the case. As George Shea of the IFOCE (which does not agree with Nathan’s stance on this) says: “There is no Title IX in competitive-eating; we all eat at the same table.”

    You are welcome. I am sorry for pulling up old comments, which is what I was looking at, as I forgive very, very easily. But I equally dislike it when certain people continually sling mud and people’s names in public. I have never been able to accept that.

    More than anything else that turns me off, is when people continually display insensitivity toward others, especially toward those who have never uttered a harsh word against those making such comments. That really chaps (no pun intended) my butt.

CRAZY LEGS CHEATING VIDEO: Video caption reads “he repeatedly spits mouthfuls of food into his big cups of dark liquid There are obviously big chunks of bread floating in the cups toward the end which he tries to slyly fish out and dispose of, folding some into his gloves at the end. ” the other vid of Sonya does show a whole bunch of uneaten wings and since we know 128 of normal Hooter wings = 1 lb how much weight did the black widow actually eat i’d say a 1/2 lb. to 3/4 lb.

Much more of it exists than negative, though some choose to be preoccupied only with trying to manufacture a negative viewpoint any way they possibly can. Perhaps they figure they have nothing to lose, since their reputations are shot anyway. That’s why they should be ignored.

    Its a shame that from now on if anything fishy happens at a Nathans qualifer the eater who should have won has to check CLC cups for full hd&b’s to take away what Crazy legs rightfully stole from them.     That’s a very nice piece by Crazy Legs in his Web site feature, “This Month on the Plate.” It’s always a pleasure reading most anything CLC writes, as he’s very entertaining in that or most any art of expression that he takes a shine to.

    You can often tell about the quality of a person by the perople they hang out with and/or are friends with. Positivity attracts positivity.

    What makes Legs stand out is that he unconditionally gives people the benefit of the doubt. With him, one “ah shit” does not cancel out 100 “atta boys.” He does not wait in ambush for possible dirt on people, only to use it as a tool for lambasting them later. Other people with those endearing qualites—-right off the top of my head—-are Badlands, LML, Sonya, Juliet, Super Paul Barlow, Buffalo Jim Reeves, and Big Sexy, just to name a few.

    Those are but a few who set the example in that regard, and for the minority of you who choose to spend time attacking others, there’s a valuable lesson to be learned here.

    Life is short, and I hope some day you “get it!”

    If you weren’t at a contest, it’s foolish to talk out your arses, so to speak, based on what you think, hear, or see in a video. For those throwing mud, do your butt cheeks flap when you keyboard?

    Get a consensus of opinion from those in attendance before you begin to throw nasty comments around. Reminds me of monkeys at a zoo who throw feces at onlookers.

    That’s the level such people operate from.

You can talk about life all you want, but the FACT remains we all who choose to look at the facts know what happened, I’m sure clc is a great guy aside from cheating his way into the finals.     CLC wrote a published article (not on his website) about last year’s loss to Subich. Do not remember where. About defending themselves? Ridiculous. There is no so called defense against people who are already convinced and only want the worst for everyone as if that makes them better. Sonya always takes the high road, think CLC does also. Bet they do not read a lot of what is written here if anything. Too busy working on good things.

    Thanks, as always, Larell. Sometimes I want to refrain from visiting this site, because I don’t want to read all the negative, mean-spirited comments. (If I need bad news, I can just flip on CNN.)

    I always appreciate positive people like yourself, Rona (if she still posts), and a few other class acts who post. You guys are the exceptions, however, not the norm.

    I don’t have as much fun visiting this site as I used to, and if I keep writing, I’ll shed tears … seriously. 🙂 🙁

    I enjoy reading these APE idiots trying to degrade MLE eaters and the MLE as whole. Particularly, on a string where MLE is offering up a major corporation, top media coverage, with $15,000 in prizes and free trips to New York. All APE can offer is a $600 prize for eating chicken salad to washed up MLE eaters who have to take a Greyhound Bus to Niagra, NY. APE can’t even get the top independent eater interested in their events. Kobi wants nothing to do with the APE jokers that can’t even afford EMTs at their events. I’d give APE less than a year before it goes away. They have no eaters, no contests, no prizes, no benefits, no media credibility, with made up records and rankings. APE’s got nothing, so all they can do is try to try to focus attention on others as they go down in flames. As if it was somebody else’s fault that their APE organization sucks. It’s actually kind of funny, APE would die to have someone with the skills of “Crazy Legs” Conte and Sonya Thomas join their crappy organization like Stephanie had to resort to after she got kicked out of MLE. APE’s only choice is take former MLE eaters like Stephanie, whose a good kid, but with the personality and media presence of a chicken salad sandwich. That’s enough said about APE, they aren’t worth it.
