No surprises but Ill have to start giving Juliet more credit and the next time she faces Hall Hunt she will beat him up.

Everyone awesome Job!! Good going Pat on the new record and My man Hall is still showing people up I guess your over being a slow eater. Bob tied the previous world record and you can’t complain about that. Sonya delivered a great performance as always.

I think Sonya probably had more deductions than Humble Bob if either one had them.

Another example of Bob moving up and Sonya moving down. I expect her retirement by years end.

I was expecting 11.2 from Pat, 9.26 from Bob, and only 9.2 from Sonya. Juliet got my exact prediction, Hall was supposed to get 6.7435.
Another example of Bob and Pat moving a smidge down, Sonya moving a tiny molecule up, Juliet staying the same – but with a scary biblical number which Hall, biblical guy, took an extra swallow just to avoid, and messed up my prediction by a tiny teeny weenie fraction.

I am NOT his mother although I feel like it sometimes! I am his wife and we eat together and cook together. I ate a humble 1.5 pounds in the amateur round today. Not too shabby for a rookie. At least I can bake!

Man, Pat smoked the record!
Thanks for the scores, SB. Why were the weights not recorded?

Fran,
Thats awesome that you competed!
I thought that announcers mentioned his mother. All the better that it was you that beat him!

Pat Bertoletti will go down as one of the greatest CE’s of all time. He did some job . WOW. I competed in this event two years ago and barely finished two pies which would have put me in the same bracket with Pat Bruss if they still weighed in at 2.75 each . Not sure if i could have put those kind of numbers up this year This is an extremely difficult contest to compete in. I commend everyone that competed for a job well done

Those pies were delicious, and the rockvale shopping outlet knows how to put on a great show. I must correct one article, It has me finishing with 37 slices, I actually finished with 27 slices(4.5 pies). The pies were 2.7 lbs each including the tin. My judge did a great job cleaning up all my debris, he even made me clean pie out of my facial hair.

Yeah, great job to everyone. Pat really turned it out. My total was 2.7 pounds. Not good. Not good at all. But I didn’t finish last! That’s my personal victory (though not a big one).

After reading all these comments its almost as if Bertoletti was the only one who competed but others tried their best Im sure.

Congratulations to everybody who was there. Everybody did a great job.
But for me to travel 2 and half hours not to get credit for anything is unfair. I know I ate more than the 6th place guy he was two spots down from me.
For a judge to take my plate and this individuals plate at the same time is totally wrong.
So I got screwed. That’s two years in a row in Lancaster.
I am not one to complain but what’s right is right.

First of all, great job to everyone who ate at this event. The pies were delicious… for about the first 2 or 3 slices. The sugar high kicked in around finishing the first pie. This is a tough run.
There were some weird judging calls, though. It seemed to be a breakdown in communication for the event staff weighing pies. Some folks (like Brian Subich) were given credit for 2 pans rather than 2 pies plus a 3rd partial. Others like Russ Keeler, who was also into his 3rd pie, never received a total at all. I’m not saying anyone cheated at all, but I don’t think everything was weighed properly. The event staff seemed more interested in handing out the checks before the crowd left, and these vanishing 2nd pies effected the winning spots for 6th and 7th place.
If only the Godfather was there (or at least Crazy Legs, who did a fine job keeping things above board as an extra set of eyes at the Molly Pitcher qualifier).

Super job Pat! You are also putting up Koby-like numbers. Sonya keeps on keeping on and so does Humble Bob.
What I can’t figure out is how the “heck” anybody can count that stuff because it’s everywhere.

This is one of the nicest family-centric eating contests I’ve ever been to. The weather was perfect, and all of the Eaters were present with their significant others. The kids played together in the grass, and asked the eaters for autographs.
Bertoletti shaved my youngest’s head into a Mohawk.
In some ways there was too many people there I wanted to talk to, I spoke with everybody alittle but nobody alot. I finally had the chance to meet Hall Hunt, Chris Abatsas, Kevin Carr (and Rich Shea the day before at Molly…..can you believe we had never met despite over a year of competing?). I’m really thankful for the Quality of People that are associated with MLE, they are passionate and kind, and I always feel welcome.
Mike was a fun announcer as usual, and I was very happy that they decided to take the extra effort to weigh everyones plates this year.
It’s very unfortunate that Russ K’s totals were not recorded. He ate next to me and you can see how much he loves competing. He had far less debris than most and cleaned his pans well before moving on. He was ahead of me somewhere in the third pie at the 8 minute mark. I really feel bad about that. Maybe in the future each eater can escort his pans to the scale just to be sure it’s weighed?

I think Steakbellie has an excellent point. Even if I’m not finishing in the money, I guard my plates like a bear until they get weighed. And I think everyone’s should get weighed with the eater being allowed to at least watch (so as to not miss or add plates).
Anyway, great to meet you this weekend, Steakbellie. Both the NJ qualifier and the Rockvale location were great for the kids. My sons got so much free crap from NJ businesses, we don’t know what to do with it. 😉
