Tim is a fantastic eater, especially in longer contests, but “Jaws” will just be too much for X.

who else will be eating. If stonie , sudo and janus eat 2nd 3rd and 4th place could be very interesting

I’ll be there but I don’t have any wild dreams to upset any of the top ranked competitors. My goal is to not let Joey double my number.

Sudo vs Janus should be a great matchup. Tim is great in capacity contests and has done this event several times previously. Miki is a greater natural eater and is faster but she hasn’t come close to reaching her potential capacity yet. If she decides to train like Tim, Joey, Matt and a few others? Good luck to the others!

Without the hot tamale girls , its pointless

Rich, I feel similarly. Capacity is Tim’s strength (along with CE IQ, as I see Tim and Koby as the smartest eaters in the world). Given a contest long enough to make stomach capacity the limiting factor, it is my opinion that only Joey and Kobayashi can top Tim.
But, when other factors are the key determinants of placing in an event (e.g. hand speed, jaw strength, speed of swallow), Tim is often at a disadvantage when competing with other top eaters. As an example, Tim’s a much better eater than Juliet and Adrian, but in clams and oysters both can top him (because of hand speed and no need for chewing), and the contest is over before he can take advantage of his enormous stomach capacity.
Miki seems to me the greatest freak of nature since the one and only Tsunami! She’s like the hungriest man in the world in a female’s body! She has the jaw strength equal to or surpassing many of the most elite male CEs; her hand speed is phenomenal; and her speed of swallow is matched only by Joey and Koby.
While her stomach capacity is enormous, it is the only attribute in which I see her behind Joey, Koby and Tim. Being a female, I’m not sure how much more she can improve in that regard. (e.g. I think she can eat close to 50 HDBs, but I don’t see her breaking, say, 55 in 10 minutes. (Even as I write these numbers, I’m astounded, as Sonya’s female record is “only” 45!)
Tamales will be very interesting.

Rhonda, like Joey pointed out to me a few days ago, is too much for anyone (including Kobayashi) when he prepares accordingly. He deserves his status as the #1competitive eater of all time.

Rhonda, Adrian never beat Tim in clams or oysters.

313 She said Can not Has and I believe her. Why else would X stay away from Adrian in those events?

Locust if Joey is so great why do Matt and Miki take turns whooping him? Hmm? Hmm? Do you think they would take turns whooping Kobi like that? Hmm? Hmm?

To add to Rhonda, miki seems to be settling into MLE rather well. The qualifier was a while ago, and her first pro event at that, so I wouldn’t be surprised if 40 is nothing to her by now.

I think Joey would beat Koby in over half of the contests held here. Joey is even more determined and would do just enough to get that slight edge. Miki can match Koby in short contests and Matt is capable of upsetting him under the right conditions. Those gyozas were extremely tough this year and Matt was unbelievable the way he plowed through them.

X BEAT Adrian in oysters in Alabama this year, the only time they ever ate shellfish together. Do your homework.

Joey beat matt in oysters . Miki beat joey in wings . Joey beat kobi in this. Kobi beat joey I that. For god sakes get a damn life

Yeah, X really strutted his stuff in that Alabama oyster contest. He only lost by nine fucking dozen. He really showed up poor Adrian.

Just listened to BB’s album. The singing is not great, but this cd is a lot of fun. The “Bonebreaker†actually keeps going through my head †Super Paul…he always hits the wall†– funny!
“Weigh my S..t†sounds like a raving lunatic, but again, if cursing can be considered light-hearted fun, this song makes you laugh out loud at Brian’s lament of the alleged table-ender disrespect. Try to get this out of your head while you are cutting the grass, sitting in traffic, or singing in the shower – you will fail! Just don’t sing out loud, your kids may pick up the language.
“Moses is Great†– another bizarre chorus that sticks in your head, whether you like it or not – a strange homage to Don Lerman – even mentioning how Eatfeats writers keep blasting Don – how dare they, Moses is great!!
Brian’s whole album is full of stuff like this. He screams about the AICE’s inferior (in his eyes) status to MLE, but then he rants about the injustice MLE head, the Sheas, have brought down on his head, lowering his rankings, not weighing his s..t properly, etc.
Badlands does a great job backing Brian whenever he shows up – an especially great rap on “Bonebreakerâ€. Despite the fact that Simon Cowell would blast Brian out of the room if BB ever headed for the American Idol tryout stage, this is a must-have for anybody who loves competitive eating, loves or hates BB, and contains the most unusual Beatles song parodies ever. He may not be the best eater, or the best singer, but BB has uncorked an album that is hard to forget. Nice work Brian, the bad eater wins this time!!

Rich, I appreciate your input as always. Just my opinion, but I have to respectfully disagree with your take comparison on Joey versus Koby, and you well may be right, as I have been wrong many times before. Admittedly, even if Koby did compete every July 4, I don’t ever see him topping Joey again in HDBs.
But Koby has so much speed and absolutely no weaknesses, that I think that in 10 contests of varying time durations with 10 different foods, I see Joey winning two or three at the most. And as great as Matt and Miki are, I think Koby would have to have an absolutely awful outing to lose to either of them even once out of 10 times.
For A 10:02: I had forgotten all about that Foodabluza 2-event extravaganza this year, and you are right. Tim did outeat Adrian in oysters. I’m so used to the more-than-one-time iterations of Acme oysters and Peter’s clams.
Regarding ‘homework,” I used to do a lot of that, up until I finished my dissertation years ago, after which I have dropped off a bit.

Rhonda, X has eaten oysters at Acme only once, where he BEAT Juliet. Again, do your homework. You are correct about clams. He lost to her there. Is so hard to get the facts correct? You have a database right here on this website!

Wow, a few of you anonymi must be crappin’ razor blades!
I must be perceived as a pretty formidable “enemy” on this board for people to feel they have to go all out to find a stone to throw in my direction. So sad.
Also, a couple of you need to slow down reading. I didn’t say Tim never beat Adrian or Juliet in Oysters or Clams. I did imply that I do not believe he would, implying the future (e.g. “… but in clams and oysters both CAN top him …”) (Juliet already has, in clams, and that’s the ONLY food (and oysters) in which I believe she (and Adrian) can finish ahead of him.
But, unlike many others, I’ll admit when I’m wrong.

Joey Chestnut presumably prepared for the 2009 Krystal finals, which remains the largest purse in MLE history ($50K) and Kobayashi defeated him easily.

Also Kobi is in shape. Joey probably struggles just to do 20 pushups and I bet he can’t run a mile in less than 7 minutes. Some hero.

The Japanese Food Battle Clubs reportedly awarded a million yen to the winner (around $100K). Nobuyuki Shirota won 3 of the 4 FBCs.
