New Poll: 2008 IFOCE rookie of the year

The new poll asks who you think is the leading candidate to be named the IFOCE rookie of the year at the 2008 Nathan’s finals. I am defining rookie as someone who emerged in 2007.

    With his performance in Spike’s MLE Chowdown and making Nathan’s as a wildcard, it has to be Gravy Brown.

    Plus, didn’t Gravy win the Rookie of the year for 2007? And on a sidenote, Brad has a ton of potential and should make a big mark this year.

    I would probably vote for Tim Brown also. He deserves it. But it surely is not a runaway. U.S. Male did very well at the last two Wing Bowls and Brad finished third in Buffalo wings last year, finishing ahead of Humble Bob. He also was second after the first round of Wing Bowl this year, on an incredible pace, before he got disqualified. And, I don’t know why, but the name Pat Bruss sticks in my mind for some or other competitive eating surprise/accomplishment.

    Thanks for putting me on the list, but even I wouldn’t vote for myself against Tim Brown. I’m sure he’ll be in the top 10 this year.

    Gravy Brown did have an awesome rookie year but my vote goes to Beautiful Brian. Oh. I thought it was for rookie singing performances.

    That’s funny, but Gravy has beaten me every time I have gone up against him. It really pisses me off, and I told him I’m kicking his ass if he does it again. Not sure if Gravy and I qualify as “rookies” anymore, but I would give it to Gravy, fo’ shizzle. Maybe Steakbellie.

    My goal is to make the Krystal and Nathan’s finals, and make top 10. That’s it.

    Gravy was nominated in 2007, Rios won. You pretty much have to make it to Nathan’s finals to be considered – at least everyone who has won it in the past was at the Nathan’s finals and that is where it is awarded.

    I was nominated with Juliet and Rios at last years Nathan’s. Rios and his big ass boom box took it. While I would love to win in 2008 it probably isn’t fair to everyone else. My vote is for Brad Sciullo…while I haven’t seen him in action he has put up some very impressive numbers and if he choses to participate more this year will probably be giving eaters like Crazy Legs, Juliet and Hall a run for their money.

    Juliet should win Rookie of the year in 2008. She has only eaten at a few contests so she should get special consideration, especially since she’s the top female in the world. Anyone knows that.

    First I don’t even think that striped bass Joey is holding is legal…I’ve caught bigger trout. Second where is my nomination for Rookie, not that Gravy doesn’t deserve it over me and I’ll be the first to admit it…But not even a consideration. It feels like when People Magazine skips over me for “Most Beautiful People” award…

    Romeo has a good point. Why isn’t Juliet on the list? She started professionally in Dec. with only one contest before that, and an amazing display from the start.

    uuummm no, that was some other Wing Kong, damn imposters…

    I assumed, and we know where assuming gets us. Everyone would realize it was said tongue and cheek w/ the People magazine comment thrown in…Alas my pathetic sense of humor has failed me again.

    But on a brighter note maybe I’ll get picked for Rookie of the year next year…

    Tim nailed it. I too would vote for Brad Sciullo. I was next to him in Buffalo. He is an amazing eater.

    Brad ‘ol school Sciullo should get it. I witnessed his great ability from the stage when he placed at Buffalo last year and when he did well at wing bowl. He’s a great up and coming eater and one to look out for so he has my vote. ‘Nuff Said.

    ok i will accept the award,so know one else needs to bicker,i would just like to thank everone that voted for me…oh im sorry i thought it was an award for the eater most likely to scare children,hehe…Have A Nice Day 🙂
