Pittsburgh pizzeria pursues Guinness glory
(Thanks Brian Subich & beautifulbrian.com – Happy 46th birthday Brian) CBS News has an article about Mama Lena’s Pizza’s quest for a Guinness world record for the largest commercially available pizza. The McKees Rocks (outside Pittsburgh) pizzeria has created a pizza called the “Big One” that sells for $99.99. 20 pounds of dough and 15 pounds of cheese are required to construct the 150 slice pie. Pittsburgh Live also has an article about the pizzeria and its gargantuan creation. No eating challenge is apparently available for the pizza.
The pizzeria’s desire for recognition in Guinness was inspired by the publicity that Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub received for having the world’s largest cheeseburger. Click “Read the rest of this entry” to see Kate Stelnick with Denny’s plaque from Guinness (The plaque lists the weight of the 96er as 9 pounds and not the advertised value of 11 pounds)

It sounds like Guiness didn’t do the research before presenting this award.

Thanks for the birthday wish OJ and a big thank you to some of the IFOCE members that wished me a happy birthday . I noticed the pic of Kate Stelnick with a plaque . For completing one eating stunt i have never seen one female capture more attention and publicity than anyone else in competitive eating , Highly overrated in my opinion and she claims she never had any interest in the sport to begin with. They talk about how attractive she is at age 19 . When i was 19 i was attractive also like anyone else at that age. Give it a damn rest ok!

I am very happy for Kate. You need not be a pro to be worthy of attention for a worthy feat. She did not ask for all the publicity, but was recognized for a one-time outstanding accomplishment — as it should be.
I might shoot a B-Ball in the hoop from half-court and win a car, but it surely doesn’t mean that my performance is on the same level as NBA players — it was a one-time thing.
So give the kid a break and let her have her well-deserved moment in the sun for a truly outstanding accomplishment. It’s nice to have fun. That’s what life is about.

Just a little more about the ‘Burgh.
There’s an eating contest at a bar called UGLY, right by PNC Park.
12 “Chasin’ the Devil” wings, one minute at a time….10 sec to eat, 50 sec. to let it soak in…..eat all 12 and you are in the finals.
I did it yesterday.
They said the finals in two weeks would be the same format, and the winner will be whoever eats the most.
Did I mention they are ridiculously hot?

it’s not a restaurant challenge, but rather a contest.
with a trip to the caribbean for the person who downs the most.
12 just got you to the finals…. there it’s a minute-at-a-time showdown.
do you ever say anything constuctive?
how about welcome to the competitive eating scene.
or Good Luck?
it’s always “been there, done that” from donmoseslerman.

Rhonda in regard to the Kate Stelnick comment i made. What i meant was that people were saying how good looking Kate Stelnick is at age 19. To an old or older person a 19 yr old be it male or female has youth behind them which carries with it good looks . There is no such thing as an ugly 19yr old. To clarify most people look good at that age , I know i sure did and im sure others looked good as well.I dont know where you get the idea i said every 19 yr old looked like me. Does that answer your question?
