With two qualifiers scheduled, will be interesting to see if we see any eater that hits 50 before July 4th. The last time that we saw a 50+ hot dog total at a qualifier was at last year’s qualifier in Cleveland. Geoff won it with 50 and the day before competed in Jacks Donuts winning that with 344 donut holes

I found Addison on IG! Addison is 100% a female. She has made multiple posts regarding the qualifier today. She has a lot of passion for the sport and her social media influence is bringing awareness to a state that that lacks representation. Looks like she traveled from Oklahoma for the qualify in Connecticut! Addison will be a great wild card for the 4th!

Here’s a link to the Australian CE rankings, but it appears the website may be stale. Maybe JWebb can chime in on who he thinks is the #2 in Australia currently? Pretty sure I’ve seen videos of Kylan holding his own in some contests in his home country.

News reports that Joey is out of MLE… was kind of preparing for this day in recent years, but at least he got the huge balogna win before his exit.
I won’t pick a winner this year… this definitely heats things up.

Serious Question– Any MLE eaters willing to go on strike for Nathan’s contest this year? If enough eaters are willing to boycott the contest unless MLE loosens some of their contract restrictions, this could actually help us all out. Of course, if most of the top eaters don’t want to holdout/boycott (for selfish reasons, presumably, to win more prize money this year and take a stab at winning overall on July 4th with Joey out of the picture) this strike/boycott wouldn’t work.
Might be the only chance to do something like this…I realize it’s a long shot, but I hope all MLE eaters are aware that viewership for the contest will be a fraction of what it typically is. And do you really think you are going to feel good winning Nathans this year, knowing the true #1 is on the sidelines??

The contract has kept Kobe, Dan, Molly, and other good eaters away for years, so it has kind of been this way for a long time.

Do you really think that people care that much about Joey Chestnut? With him out, there will be real competition with unknown or difficult to predict results. That will make viewership bigger, not smaller. George Shea has a sharp pencil. But I am sure he loosened it to keep Joey. Joey cannot give a decent interview. He has no personality which is appealing. He is just a hot dog machine. I think people will try the plant based hotdogs once perhaps. Nathan’s is not going to lose much if anything.

@726 AM– you think Geoff Esper will give a better interview than Joey?? (no offense to Geoff, I’m sure he knows he’s not the best public speaker).
If James W. wins then many viewers will be upset that a non-American (again, no offense) has basically filled the void to win on America’s Birthday. Maybe George Shea is OK with this–Webby could become the “new Kobi” for an American eater to target to take down…
Based on qualifier results, Pat or Nick also have a shot, but I think they’d be slightly lower odds than Esper or Webb. Will be interesting to see if independent eaters start reaching out to the Shea’s to join MLE (or perhaps just a short-term deal to compete on 7/4/24), which would presumably make the contest wayyyyyy more interesting and unpredictable. The sports books are going to be all over the place with betting odds over the next 3.5 weeks…that I can almost guarantee.

1059 Americas birthday????? Nathan’s is Chinese owned and you worry about that. The brand was always American owned so tell me why they had to sell the company to a Chinese owner. Didn’t have to be but someone did it anyway. Webb will win and he is not American and neither is Nathan’s
