Sonya Thomas to do 3 brothers pizza

The AP calendar reports that Sonya Thomas will compete in Saturday’s Three Brothers Pizza eating contest in Greenbelt, MD. Sonya will look to extend her VA/MD/DC/DE/NC undefeated streak.

    I wish Sonya all the best! Greenbelt’s not far away from the DC area. It’s not likely she’ll be disapponted two times in a row.

    Sonya will be there. So will Steakbellie. And Humble Bob said on Pat Bertoletti’s MySpace page that he’ll “settle the score in pizza” so I assume they’ll both be there. Does anyone know what other ranked eaters will be there?

    X? Crazy Legs? LeFevre (he’s got the pizza title)?

    Pat B.will probably do horseshoes in his home town and I know X will be in Chicago too. Pizza doesn’t seem like Sonya’s favorate type of speed food so I’m not sure she’ll be there. I can guarante mega munch, steakbellie, Bob, and Pat from M. It looks like Andrew Lane might be there too. I’ll be there, but I’m an alternate and I’m no where near eating shape, so I’ll probably just watch.

    Shevegas Insider must think that Sonya will not be at the Pizza contest, because that’s the ONLY way there would be a mortal lock of Sonya not placing in the top 3. Johnny B appears to know something as well. But why would the AP publish erroneous information if Sonya’s not even available to participate. I’m confused.

    If Sonya shows, it will be for one reason, and one reason only — to win. Sweet little Sonya will be out to do damage. On Sonya’s behalf, she must be pretty damned good to have some doubters rooting for a sub-100 pound female to lose. That’s pretty shitty, but that reflects the reputation of a few of those on this site.

    It’s absolutely amazing that she can beat most of the world’s best competitors in her sport. No damned wonder some people would like to see her lose or leave the sport altogether. I hope Sonya can somehow find time to practice her speed a little bit, as I know, based on her interviews and her site, that she practices very little, and for most foods she doesn’t practice at all.

    She could get away with it more abundantly in the past, but given the fact that more and more talented eaters are emerging, Sonya will need to step up her game to improve further — and step up she will.

    More than anyone I know, Sonya has the most important quality necessary to excel in any endeavor, that being sheer desire and the will to win. So for the few folks that are verbally writing Sonya off — talking out your asses is more like it — just keep talking, because I believe Sonya reads mosts of these posts, and you are really helping her focus. That’s not good for her opponents, however.

    Steakbellie you’re a good egg, and I wish you the best. You’re what they call, “decent folk.” You give a lot to the sport, but expect little. I respect that very much. May you have a breakout performance. (Or you may just decide to breakdance after the contest.)

    amazing amazing. The one contest where Sonya and Chestnut wont be attending i get screwed. I registered for the contest in early afternoon of the day they posted it and they tell me all these people jumped on it that morning and signed up before i did? Highly unlikely I would just love to find out if anyone out there (and be honest) signed up for this contest the day after or days after it was posted and got a confirmation? I am starting to wonder if its first come first serve anymore.

    I have also heard that Sonya will not be there. I talked to a ranked eater who told me that at Nathan’s on th 4th Sonya claimed she would not be there. I believe as it stands from looking at myspace pages listed on this site that Pat, Humble Bob, Pat from M, Brian Subich, Larry the Legend, and Chip will be there. Should be an interesting contest if all these ranked eaters show up

    ok, so here’s my plan…..
    15 minutes before the REAL contest we come out and do a pratice run. Everybody eats a slice and then pretends to double over in pain. Philbin tries to do the Stooges eyepoke, but I block. I eat TWO slices and am declared the winner, at which point I rush my wife and children out to the parking lot so we can have the REAL pizza contest.

    If that doesnt work we can build this big wooden horse on wheels and hide inside until……oh nevermind….

    She’s been invited to Hong Kong to compete in the Whampoa Asia Eating Championship on the 12th and 13th.

    2 foods are involved steamed dumplings on the 12th and somethin called longivity bun on the 13th. I think this is the same contest kobyashi went to last year. I think Koby ate about 80 or 85 of the dumplins last year. Since hk is way ahead of us in time the first contest is problaby over.

    Anyway I think sonya will make americns very proud.
