“All You Can Eat” screenwriter Josh Heald in LA Times

The LA Times has a section about Josh Heald, the author of “All You Can Eat,” a screenplay set in the world of competitive eating in its screenwriter column. The article describes Mr. Heald’s first hand experience in eating contests. The movie has yet to begin filming.

Unsurprisingly, the major challenge in moving “All You Can Eat” into production has been casting — it would take some very game comic actors who are willing to be seen stuffing food in their faces for two hours while potentially risking a disqualifying “reversal of fortune,” in the lingo of the sport.

    Hello, Crazy Legs…LA is calling.

They should definitely employ some real eaters, if not for lead roles then for competition scenes, and at the very least for coaching.

Hey it’s Josh… obviously there were a couple of minor factual errors in the reporting of the Las Vegas qualifier in which I (and a field of 13 others) was decimated by Joey Chestnut. The Times reporter and I were talking for over and hour and a few things got lost in translation. Nevertheless, look for some movement on All You Can Eat in the new year. Fingers crossed!
