Brian praises anyone who gives him attention (ala Chestnut answered his e-mail). Brian chastises those who do not give him attention (ala the publicized list of people who have bought his CD). It is that simple. I think he and Lerman are brothers.

    About Me:
I really like the people I surround myself with… I like the friends I hang out with… I like the people I work with… I even like the competitors I eat against… But I do not like that little bastard takaru kobayashi. I am not ashamed of that. Some people would say that I am a bad sport for not liking him, but they are wrong. I have a lot of respect for kobayashi’s ability, but I cannot say anything good about his integrity. Last Year that tricky little man tried to pull a sneak attack on the 4th of July. He claimed that he suffered an injury and that he would not be able to compete (This happened after I broke his record by six hotdogs). On July 3rd he told me that he would be lucky to eat a dozen dogs. The next day, he ended up eating 63 hdb’s. There is more… In the closing seconds of the contest the tsunami barfed into his hands and continued to eat his vomit for nearly a minute after the time expired. Any eater with integrity would have stopped and accepted the DQ. Koby decided to steal second from Pat Bertoletti and he would have stolen first place if he could have. I have no desire to ever compete against him. So, as I watch the hot dog contest on tv, I will have two questions for the great takeru kobayashi. How did it feel to eat your barf in front of the world? Are you going to do it again this year?

Joey, Thee funny thing is most people will not give you credit for having integrity and good sportsmanship. I hope you wipe the floor with him July 2008. I said all along last year that Koby was trying to pull a fast one and people were beating me up for it. Now who’s right!

Why don’t all of you just lay off the guy. He spoke his mind which is alot more than i can say about others. They are both great champions and have done alot to make the sport what it is today. Joey is trying to become a role model by making an effort to respond back to members of the ifoce that he did not have time for in the past. When you make hurtful remarks you dont realize that you might be doing damage and he might just end up crawling back into his shell. Give him a chance for christ sake.

When any person goes on record to call someone else a bastard, then the gloves come off, and that person opens himself up for retaliation. I WANT to like Joey. Do I think he is a great eater? Without a doubt. But he has not only let his success go to his head, he personally attacked the greatest eater of all time, without whom CE as we know it today would simply be little more than mildly publicized picnics.

Here’s what I believe to be true about Kobayashi: I think this jaw thing is a ploy. Koby is not ,and has never been, used to losing. Knowing that Joey ate well over 50 HDBs in a qualifier made him worry, and woke him up to the fact that he was not invincible. So he invented and sold this “Jawthritis” ailment as a mental sling to carry his fragile pride, should he go down in defeat, which he did, but only after a most valiant effort in consuming more HDBs than ever before in his life.

I too think Koby reversed, and Koby’s response in trying to gather the stuff back in his mouth was just a reflex action that he had not experienced before. But I certainly don’t hold it against Koby as a person or a professional for those actions. What I DO remember is the big hug he gave Joey at the contest’s conclusion and the image of a smiling Koby raising Joey’s hand to acknowledge the new champ. When I look at the totality of events that day, I thought Koby handled thinks like the great champ he is.

Life’s a rough ride when we become so bitter and calloused that we default to looking for the negative in others, versus the positive. I know of not one person on this earth who lives in a house that’s not fragile, and I think it is most important to remember that.

I am most certain that most eaters out there will agree with me, whether they chime in and acknowledge it or not. Whether they do or not, this needed to be said.

I read Joey Chestnut’s commentary about Kobe. It is a total disgrace. Kobe would like to be accepted by his american peers and this really puts a damper on that . This means that Kobe is not good enough to hang out with Joey and his friends . Please Please i hope this is not true

I agree. OJ is not only a genius, but a real Godsend, as is that well-heeled, smart, beautiful, sexy, and witty fictitious character you speak of.

The sole purpose of Rhonda Evans is to increase traffic to this site 10-fold. That’s it in a nutshell.

What can I say … I’ve been found out. You’ve Joey Chestnutted the hell out of me anonymous 1:57 … Now go find a literary 357 and blow your own dick in the dirt.

Beautiful Brian, I would have to agree with you. He spoke his mind, and I’m sure he spoke for others. I think he actually had the guts to speak what some people were too afraid to say, that Kobayashi pulled a fast one. Seriously, think about it. How the hell do you tell your main opponent and the freakin media/world that you are not able to perform at full capacity due to a jaw injury, and then do the exact opposite, by performing/ eating beyond the best you ever did in the past. It was a tricky tactic that anyone could’ve done, and luckily some people didn’t really fall for it! Before any haters or negative comments people on here have against Joey, really think about the slick move Kobe tried to pull! However, I do agree that Kobayashi did bring competitive eating to a new spotlight and have broadened the fanbase of this unique sports itself. Competition within itself can bring in tough critics, but that’s just how it is. I give both Joey and Kobe and the rest of the IFOCE members/eaters much props for bringing CE where it is today. Joey and Kobe are both good guys, let’s just wait and see what’ll come about in the next matchup!

Its pretty surprising to hear that Joey said something like that. But, it would be much worse if it wasn’t true! Its amazing how soon everyone forgot about 2006 when Koby did the exact same thing…it just wasn’t caught on tape as well his reversal in 2007. You cant blame Koby for doing what he did, he knew he was out-matched and was gonna do what ever it took. It almost worked too.

you can bet that now that kobe is a tarnished image they wont think even twice about pulling the trigger on a DQ if he shows the slightest sign of a reversal at coney

I’d like to see Koby win…but he won’t. I’d be surprised if he got many more than 50 based on his injury
