I’m guessing high thirties, probably best rookie perfomance ever (39, 1 over chip simsons’ best).

I’m doing this guess for fun, so don’t take it too seriously! Best of lucks Ben!

Ben you degrade yourself by posting here , Almost all of the upper echelon never leave comments. OJ rifkin depends on the comments or else his threads are pointless or he might as well be talking to himself,In other words his air supply is cut off without feedback from these anonymous jerkoffs. Pretty sad isnt it?

Get off Ben’s back! He’s one of the top two or three eaters in the world right now and he will only get better. The top eaters make comp. eating the great sport it is. They have earned bennies. If others want those rights they need to perform better.

    Ben will eat 60+.

How do you stop the good eaters from entering outside contests, not by rewarding them.” how about a one or two contest ban. Afterall you did ban El Toro and friends for less. I guess those one the top get to do anything the want.

after eating next to Ben, I expect to see him qualify with at least 55 hot dogs. Las vegas is a good qualifier, they always serve decent hot dogs.

What a thrill. Can we see some dude the size of an SUV whip a (beloved) senior citizen in his hometown? Should be another real crowd-pleaser. Who cares – If you’re nearly 7 feet tall and 250 pounds, what’s interesting about the fact you can eat? It would be more interesting if he couldn’t. I guess we’ll really get excited if can beat one of the 100 pound women sometime.

Wow Joey, you’re giving Ben a lot of credit. I was thinking low 40s, max. Ben’s a telented eater, but he’s no Joey Chestnut. (at least not yet) 🙂

Free ride? He’s currently a top 6 or 7 talent who’s prolly gonna put down 40-45 HDB in his qualifier and most likely 45-50 in the finals… I can think of a hand full of eaters who get a free ride to Nathan’s year in and year out by startically placing them in certain qualifiers. Which might be harder this year seeing how there are only 13 qual spots and not 15-17 in years past.

Let me guess you two are gonna be in Vegas right? I would be saying the same thing if I was going and knew I didn’t have a chance to beat Ben.

btw, last I heard, Rich won’t be there but Ron will be.

and that was pretty cool of Joey to give Ben a vote of confidence.

For those of you that have high blood pressure you realize that the salt intake of one hot dog can trigger your reading to jump 5 points .Multiply that by 30 to 35 hot dogs which Rich Lefevre is capable of eating and with his current condition you are looking at someone that can be room temperature when the contest is over. Does CE need that kind of black eye at this point?

CE doesn’t need anonymous black eyes spreading rumors.

Good point, Dr. Anonymous. The only thing is, no one in the history of the human race has ever died of high blood pressure after eating 20, 30, or even 60 hot dogs. Meanwhile, around 17,000 people die each year as a result of drunk driving, but you’re right, we should be worried about someone eating too many all beef franks on the Fourth of July.

It’s fun to speculate how much Ben will eat but as we’ve all seen, Hot Dogs are their own crucible and surprisingly different than any other food. Clearly he has talent but I will be impressed if he kisses 30, at least at his very first qualifier. I think you can add 10 to his second Qualifier.

I’d be surprised if that was Ben doing all the challenges. It seems like he had to lobby to get into the IFOCE to begin with and to blow the contract a month before his first Major would be pretty dumb.

    Good Luck Ben!

    Steakbellie,

If I set the line for Ben at 35HDB’s and you take the under, you got yourself a bet!

Looking at Ben, he doesn’t look like the type of guy who doesn’t mind training.

Mega munch high blood pressure is the main cause of heart attacks and strokes. Check with your doctor . If your doc is a quack he will tell you sure go ahead and stuff yourself with as many hot dogs as you please . You might have a little gas afterwards but nothing to worry about. When you drop dead you find out this guy moved to austria or was arrested for practicing without a real license. Ron after watching you pass out not once but twice at hot dog events , you are a heart attack waiting to happen

I would guess it’s mostly unknowns competing against Ben. MLE isn’t announcing any other top eaters for Las Vegas.

I don’t know how old Ben is, but Anon716 raised an interesting point with his “at his young age” comment.

OJ – Who’s the youngest eater ever to win an IFOCE contest? Do you have any records on young eaters who have won other eating contests other than IFOCE?
