This is very cool for many reasons. Pat is the first (well, if you do not include Kobayashi) to go independent and then decide to continue and go up against another former MLE top eater. It will be the first time Kobayashi has had competition from a (former) top 5 MLE eater. Pat seems to certainly want to continue competing but in a different way. Having more fun perhaps and adding to his resume and public profile to further his food truck, chef, anything he wants career without having to compete repeatedly for income in MLE which he certainly did in spades and made lots of money. Kobayashi has had basically no competition whatsoever since leaving MLE and likely his manager likes it just fine that way. Maybe Kobayashi would really like more competition but his level is so high that that seems difficult to come by. In any case it shows once again that many kinds of competitive eating and eaters can thrive. No need to keep tearing down this person or that or this organization or that. It isn’t a pyramid with one or a group at the top.

Love Pat ,but he will do no better against Takeru than he did Chstnut these two eating against each other is certainly great for the indy scene as a whole and bad for the contract eating “show”, and in particular will give Takeru a much needed spark

Man, Furious Pete won’t be able to hold up his facade as a competitive eater for much longer. First he bails on the Z-Burger contest to avoid facing both Pat and Jamie, who each nearly doubled Pete’s best numbers at that very contest in which he proudly boasts of 3-peating, because he once boldly stated that the *only* person he can’t beat is Kobayashi and didn’t want to be utterly embarrassed.

The burgers at Z burger were not the same this year . When they used those burgers in 2010 Pete won with 23 .

They always differ every year. pat and jamie did no such thing. They were lucky to get that many as they suffer afterwards.
