NBC San Diego has a report on yesterday's Big One Burger eating contest at Daddy O's in Point Loma. Peter Ruiz defeated Matt Cohen to win the contest.

    A post on the old Travel Channel blog claimed the burger was free if eaten in 45 minutes. Who knows.

    Since this was a TV promo anyway, there’s a chance that nobody paid for their meal anyway.

    @505 who are you to judge. I went on TV to do a promotion, never expecting anything for winning or losing. Only to challenge myself and to have a great time! Both of which I was successful. If you go and pay to take the challenge you do receive a T-shirt, free meal and wall of fame picture, which is an awesome prize. Obviously you don’t know how a challenge works because it the same prize almost anywhere you go. Yeah, I got beat so why are you no named ass talking “S”. If your jealous I under stand I was on TV for christ sake. If you would like to challenge me, look me up! I love to meet new people! I am a competitive eater, you win some you lose some.     Sweet tooth, don’t bother to respond to these weenies. we all have envy. some people like you network very well and eat just the same. i never thought of looking anybody up, but i am going to have to start. there are loads of contests here in the southwest and all paths will cross eventually.

    @ Matt Cohen- I am a competitive eater- ( By doing a few eating contests ) i think not. and I was on TV for christ sake. ( you got to be joking
    you on a local TV for eating something that you no getting paid for ) You got a lot to learn.

    Hey Eater supported (if that is your real name) you would also be a competitive eater even if you had stepped up to 1 table. Once again you don’t know me nor are your facts straight. I’ve done more than a few contest and had some very note able wins- gallon + chili in 5 minutes, 7 hot dogs in 1:44 at pinks hot dogs,2.11 pounds tater tots in 4 mins at the rock the tot contest, 50 chinese dumplings 2 seconds behind “the floss” @ 1:54, 3 scoops sundae in 35 seconds at farrells. The list goes on yes I am a competitive eater. As far as TV goes you can feel free to check out my paid TV spots also given to me because Iam an competitive eater FOX.com for Bobs Burgers or my upcoming spot on SPEED channel for “Car Science” March 10th 10 pm eastern. I never said professional eater, I said I do it for fun! Maybe you should learn a little your self and quit your flappin. Look me up, it would be great to meet you.
