After winning 9 yrs in a row, they announced no “pros”. I wondered if that meant me or not. As I definitely do not make a living at this activity, I do NOT consider myself to be a pro. I stumbled on to a video of the owner, previously calling me the only pro. So, this obviously meant me. Last year I stopped by because everything I’d seen made it appear as though I’d be allowed in. At the bottom of the sign up board it said in tiny letters, no pros. Though, on the sign up list was someone who beat me once. I had that conversation with the owner and he wanted to know who it was. I wouldn’t tell him. Turns out he won last yr. Because Manny Cambra won last year, I’m guessing I would have been allowed in this yr, but with the lowering of the already piddlng prize to $150. I chose not to bother to even inquire if Id be allowed to participate.
My personal preference has always been that whomever can attend any event should be allowed entry.
Don’t offer cash or significant prizes if you don’t want quality. Offer low dollar gift certificates or a dozen packzis a week for a yr if you don’t want quality or non locals to enter.

You are so right Gentleman Joe. You want a good contest, leave it open to whomever signs up. If they want a low quality non competitive contest, offer gift certificates and junk. Shame on them.

Joe, I think the owner wanted to know so he could kick out Manny too. Why are there so many owners who do not know what they are doing when it comes to contests or challenges?
