Good luck to everyone this year! I hope the weather is good and the wings are juicy. Unfortunately I can’t make it out to cheer you all on but I’ll be there in spirit.

What are the odds of a complete Sonya meltdown if Bertoletti takes her title in Wings? So far, I think 2-1 is a fair start

This contest has some interesting side bar stories.

Sonya loves that Pat is going. It puts a bigger spotlight on this competition, and if she wins, it’ll be the second time this year that she has beaten him (and an eater ranked higher than her). Pat and her are friends, so regarding bookmaker’s prediction, as long as she performs well she’s got no problem losing to him. Would she be mad if she lost … she may be cute, but she’s got a competitive side to her that’s fierce and that’s just one of things that makes her so interesting.

From Pat’s perspective, this also an interesting story. In my opinion, Pat has shined most in more of the shoveling foods category. This is a great opportunity to show what he can do in a technique food like wings. And, if I labled myself as the bookmaker, I think Pat’s the odds on favorite to win and he’s not about to travel all the way to Buffalo from Chicago without a good feeling that he can win this one. Yet, I haven’t checked the stats list on Pat, I’m not sure if he’s ever done or won a wing compitition before. It should be interesting.

And, you know what, never count out Booker. He is great at wings. He beat Sonya, a couple of years ago. If you wanted to make some money in Vegas, lay down a buck or two on Badlands, he could surprise people.

Then there’s Juliet, a great eater and her first competition since Nathan’s. It’ll be interesting to see how she does in this non-dunking competition. I can tell you one thing, she’ll probably be the cleanest eater in the field. Don’t count out Juliet, she wants to prove something to people. And, while they like each other, a chance to compete against that “other” woman (Sonya) is a good chance to show that she deserves to be talked about in the same sentence as the Blackwidow.

HJP III – you may need to do some research which isn’t much further than Pat Bertoletti’s eatfeats stat sheet. He competed in 2 wing bowls (2007, 2008) and did very well with wings, finishing second place both times. He also kicked everyone’s ass in wings (Chestnut, Koby) on the Spike TV special. SO, let’s just say that Pat is a heavy favorite to win this Saturday in Buffalo.

As for Sonya, she is a great fiery competitor and nobody on the circuit denies it. We all love her for the great female competitor she is.

    VEGAS ODDS ARE SET:

    Odds for Bertoletti winning 2-1
    Sonya winning 10-1
    Booker winning 15-1
    Juliet winning 18-1
    Gravy winning 20-1
    Reeves winning 21-1
    Goldstein winning 23-1
    Keeler winning 27-1
    Subich winning 31-1
    Flash Gordon winning 32-1
    Myers winning 44-1
    Landrich winning 45-1
    Field winning 125-1

You don’t want any action Rhonda? You think Sonya will beat Pat?

Bookmaker, thanks for correcting me. It’s just that Sonya’s done so many wing contests and I don’t remember Pat being there. But I do agree, as I said earlier, that Pat’s the favorite. And, that what makes it so much fun for Sonya. She loves going against the best. Being the underdog is cool too especially at an event that she has done so well at in the past. I am obviously not as detailed as the Bookmaker at stats. Were the numbers that Sonya put up in wings comparable to Pats? I guess I could check but I’m lazy.

Pat should win. I’m sure he’s the favorite. It’s no disgrace to lose to Pat in any event. He is one of but a handful of men on this planet who can keep up with her in Buffalo wings.

Not bad for a 99-lb woman is it?

And remember … Chili Spaghetti … Sonya no worse than second place.

I’ll stop here. Have a good WE everybody. See you Tuesday.

    Come on Hank, you know the numbers;

    WING BOWL 15 (2007): Joey 182 wings, Pat 170, Sonya 169
    16 (2008): Joey 241, Pat 227, El WIngador 205

    MLE CHOWDOWN Pat 4.1 lbs, Jeoy $.05, Koby 3.12, X 3.06

Pat Bertoletti is a force at many food disciplines.

Tell Sonya I said hello and I wish her well this weekend.

Thanks for the info bookmaker. I only recently just started getting into this site on a regular basis. I would be happy to give Sonya your regards — but I don’t know who you are. If you don’t want to give a name, you can give me a clue so Sonya and I can figure it out. Thanks, Hank
