Carlene LeFevre update from Brian Seiken

Brian Seiken has an update about Carlene LeFevre’s status and plans on his website. While she has no definite plans to return to competitive eating in the forseeable future, she does plan to travel to New York City at the start of February to cheer on husband Rich in the goldenpalance.com grilled cheese finals. She plans to attempt some massive meals in the Big Apple, so her eating capacity has apparently not been diminished. It is not stated if Carlene plans to attend the Wing Bowl two days later. If Carlene does travel to Philadelphia and Rich takes first place and wins a car, mandating a transcontinental road trip to bring the prize to Las Vegas, perhaps the LeFevres could stop at Denny’s Beer Barrel and attempt the two-person challenge for the 15 pound burger.

If they ever figure out how to cook those massive burgers it will be a challenge worth attempting. The two we have had so far (J.R. Hohlier’s and the Plaza Barrick burger from last year’s contest) were terrible; so bad that I wouldn’t feed them to our dog (if we had one). One suggestion for preparing those burgers is to insert about a pound of butter inside the meat to give it some moisture and flavor. Another is to try to avoid cooking them into the middle of next week. Maybe these cooks should consult the Food Network for tips.

Rich the best burger i have ever tasted is served at the empire diner on 10th ave and 22nd street in manhattan. I deplore diners but in this case i have to make an exception. this place caters to the upscale yuppie crowd and the food is outstanding. It is called a steakburger and if the barrick burger ever tasted this good you would wipe out the competition after tasting this. The downside to it is that the size of the burger is only 1/2 lb and they charge 11bucks which comes with potato chip type fries. Your average competitive eater might need to order 4or 5 of them to get filled. I will be doing a live remote from the empire as a promo on film for the next show.

    Rich,

I was laughing after reading your comments. I hope there is some moisture this year inside the burger. See you two on Saturday.

See you guys at the poker table Friday night for a little pre-comp pre-funk. I can’t wait to see this burger. I am considering bringing some Tabasco sauce to douse the burger and add a little moisture, do you think the IFOCE will have a problem with that?
