Instead of complaining here about the rankings, a petition should be written and signed to get the attention of MLE to use eatfeats statistics before doing their rankings next time. Let’s get this show on the road to recovery. On the other hand, they will do what they wish. This is our opportunity to compare in a detailed way but I wouldn’t read too much into the rankings. I suspect that they do not spend much time overall working on them nor do they care or think that they are VERY important.

To you the rankings mean nothing but to some its like a pat on the back or a grade school report card. When you get dropped in the rankings especially if you are a second tier ranked eater, it gives off the impression that youre self worth as an eater isnt that hot. Everyone likes to feel important in any aspect of life whether it be rankings military merits, job performance etc.

SI, for the top eaters the rankings are used by MLE as tool with the media to promote an event. For example, such and such event will have three of top five eaters in the world competing. However, beyond that purpose it really serves no purpose. I guess you could construe then that an eater’s ranking might be affected politically if the the MLE detects that an eater may not be with the league very long and they don’t need to add keep a high ranking cachet to that eater as a draw to an event. It may also account for some eaters getting a higher ranking than some might feel is deserved if they have other attributes such being a reliable eater when it comes to going to events or being a spokesperson for an event and the league. An analogy might be made to Notre Dame in college football. Often ND’s ranking is higher than deserved but having such a huge fan base accross the country its ranking is inflated to draw more towards the sport. However, of course, college football rankings are determined by sportswriters.

TOT, I’m impressed with your logic! You make loads of sense—-especially, since you usually confirm what I believe. 🙂

Oj why do you allow repeat offenders to have a voice on here.? Anyone that preaches hate anti semitism on twitter Youtube or any other service where they allow someone to .post under an alias is no better than the perpetrator himself.

I think people who ask questions should be ranked number 1. I think perpetrators should be ranked number 2.

Down to Rhonda everyone makes good points. Of course eaters care about their rankings as they are somewhat a measure of their efforts and results, or should be. Efforts may include bringing more to the eating table than just numbers. Rankings sometimes reflect past efforts and sometimes not. There are no fixed parameters and no way to know, unless you are the MLE rankers, how these things are decided. If you bring something to MLE’s attention about your displeasure of the rankings, nothing could be corrected until the next time which seems to be on no particular schedule. So overall, maybe the rankings are a lose-lose proposition for the eaters.

When you see Monsoon still hanging around the rankings its like holding a candle for your ex praying that one of these days the ex will return but deep down in your heart you know it wont happen. Larell gets bumped up to 29 by accumulating cheerleading points. Edible debuts at 30 because MLE is elated they finally found a female version of psycho bozo that can eat a little better than he can

Man’s flight through life is sustained by the power of his knowledge and some of the negative comments about certain individuals in the sport does not support that theory. Berating people even through sarcasm accomplishes nothing. The ones that engage in such tactics know that the person or persons they are attacking reads the comments. Let us strive to make this site what it supposedly stands for and not some haven for hate mongers

Thou shalt not smite those verbally with thine mouth who have been blessed with ranked numbers, instead smite them with your meat-filled mouth….let us all hold hands, and live by the Golden Rule…”Eat more than others until you are ranked higher than them”
