Cookie Jarvis’ website announces retirement
A headline on hugeeaters.com announces that Cookie Jarvis is retiring and more information will be available soon. (The announcement says that Jarvis will “put away his spoon”, so he could only be retiring from contests which use spoons 😉 )

Jarvis was a pioneer in developing “friendship by phone” .Before he became a competitive eater most of the guys were solo . Noone thought about exchanging phone numbers or getting to know one another. Jarvis would bring out the best in me at the table similar to Charles Barkley with Mike Jordan. There will be alot less phonecalls to the IFOCE office now that Jarvis has gone his own way

Cookie will be missed on the circuit. I consider it an honor that I have had several opportunities to eat alongside him.

I always considered Cookie the best male eater that there ever was, because he has records for so many different foods. Even today, I firmly believe that if Cookie put his mind to it, he could again be ranked in the top 3 or 4 in the world. How many other people can say that? I do hope that Cookie comes back. It just wouldn’t be the same without him.
